Wales need this win, and a few goals wouldn't go amiss either as they battle Belgium and North Macedonia for one of the top two positions in the group. Liechtenstein have lost all six qualifiers so far, so it is damage limitation for the Central European minnows.

These recommended Best Bet Builder Bookmakers are worth a look for the weekend.

4 Selections @ 4.00

Over 2.5 Wales Goals @ 1.28

Wales have every reason to try and win handsomely here.

It is a very tight battle at the top of the group and Wales’ goal difference is suffering by dint of the fact that they have only played Liechtenstein once, so they really need to capitalise on this fixture.

With Craig Bellamy at the helm, Wales are unlikely to be a team that lets teams off the hook, especially when there are logical reasons for them not to.

Wales won the reverse fixture 3-0, which obviously covers the total number of goals required here. They are six goals behind North Macedonia in the table, whilst three points behind with a game in hand. This is a more important match than most realise, especially with North Macedonia to entertain in the second match of this international break.

If Wales can somehow overhaul this goal difference in Liechtenstein, then they would only require a draw in their match against North Macedonia on Monday to secure a top-two finish.

Over 9.5 Wales Corners @ 1.80

There is a touch of trepidation around tipping up this line; it is obviously quite a high number to attain, but there are a couple of reasons why I have gone with this at a near 50/50 price.

First of all, Wales won 12 corners in the reverse fixture, which is well clear of the line here. Liechtenstein have also conceded 10 corners to Belgium in this campaign, and despite conceding as early as the eighth minute against North Macedonia, they still conceded seven corners to them.

My thoughts here are similar to backing the -2 handicap price, that even if Wales score early they have an incentive to keep going, whereas often a team will let up when they get ahead or build a lead.

Wales won 15 corners in a friendly in Gibraltar; it helped that this was a 0-0 draw, and they won nine in Latvia in a recent qualification campaign as well.

Joe Rodon Over 0.5 Shots @ 1.40

The Leeds Central defender has become a transformed attacking weapon this season, scoring a Premier League goal and averaging 0.73 shots per 90 in the league this year.

We are expecting Wales to have a high number of corners and attacking free kicks here, see later writeup, and Rodon is likely to be a target for at least a few of those attacking balls into the box.

Rodon actually had two shots in the Liechtenstein home game, which is the basis of this bet. With a vaguely similar number of corners taken I am expecting Rodon to get something of his body on the ball and force it towards goal from one of those.

Kieffer Moore Over 0.5 Fouls Committed @ 1.30

Moore is a regular committer of fouls in the Championship for Wrexham. He is averaging 1.35 fouls per 90 over his last 50 Championship matches.

That figure has been higher for Wales, 1.72 per 90 over the last couple of campaigns. This is likely a byproduct of international refereeing taking a dimmer view of Moore's physical game. It is easy to see him being judged to be overly physical with a Liechtenstein centre back and getting the referee blowing up on him.

He committed a foul in the reverse fixture, and despite Wales expecting to dominate here so having possession for long periods, they will still potentially require Moore's physical presence in the box.

📈 Liechtenstein v Wales Form & Stats

Liechtenstein have lost six out of six qualifiers in this group without scoring a goal. It is a chastening experience for the minnows, and Liechtenstein are one of the least successful of the minnows as well, ranked outside the FIFA Top 200. They have lost nine in a row altogether and finished bottom of their Nations League group which they competed in with San Marino and Gibraltar, failing to win a match in that group as well.

Obviously, given those Liechtenstein stats Wales will feel confident in getting the win they need, but they come into this having lost their last three in a row. Despite this, Wales very much have qualification for the World Cup in their own hands, mainly because two of those three defeats were in friendlies to Canada and England.

Wales do tend to polish these matches off pretty well even away from home. There hasn't been any dropped points to a bottom seed in qualification since 2010.

Wales rank 15th for expected goals generated in the campaign as a whole so far, they also rank 13th for shots on target, and ninth for accurate passes per match.

📔 Liechtenstein v Wales Formation & Team News

Liechtenstein will play defensively, most likely in a 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 formation. However, one of the forwards will also drop in to form an extra man in midfield to help plug the gaps and pressure the Welsh deep midfielders.

Wales tend to play with a back three as well. However, there might be a change for this match as Craig Bellamy might sacrifice a central defender for an extra midfielder or attacker. If Bellamy does change from a 3-5-2 it'll probably be a 4-2-3-1 as he used against Kazakhstan.

Ben Davies is likely to be missing for this one, but it should mostly be about trying to break down the Liechtenstein defence with the right alchemy of forwards. Kieffer Moore arrives in good form, whereas Brennan Johnson perhaps hasn't had the minutes he would've liked so far this season.
