I've put together a double at just over evens for Littler v Gilding. There's no value in backing Littler to win at a lowly 1.12, so this bet builder double provides a strong alternative.

Luke Littler (-5.5 Legs Handicap)

I'm expecting Luke Littler to come flying out of the traps against Andrew Gilding on Friday night. ‘The Nuke’ made an uncharacteristically slow start against Jermaine Wattimena and looked to be on the brink of a shock early exit before lifting himself off the canvas to win 13-11. Littler will be desperate to avoid a repeat of that drama on Friday night, and I suspect we may see a performance similar to that of his round one romp over Ryan Searle.

While Gilding's showings in his wins over both Damon Heta and Dirk van Duijvenbode demonstrate that he is a player who commands respect, I don’t think he will be able to live with Littler over such a long format .

‘Goldfinger’ had his journey at last year’s World Matchplay brought to an end at the quarter-final stage by Michael van Gerwen, with the Dutchman claiming a comfortable 16-10 victory on that occasion.  I’m expecting Littler to triumph by a similar scoreline here, making the Warrington wonderkid worthy of support with a -5.5 leg handicap.

Luke Littler Most 180s

I’ve backed Luke Littler to hit the most 180s in each of his opening two victories and he has duly delivered. The current world champion is in a league of his own when it comes to filling up the treble 20 bed, and it’s a battle that I fully expect him to win again on Friday night.

Littler’s latest barrage of 180s against Jermaine Wattimena on Wednesday night has taken his overall tally for the year to a whopping 514. To put that into context, Beau Greaves is sitting second on the PDC’s 180 leaderboard with a tally of 420.

While Gilding has also clocked up the most 180s in each of his two wins en route to the quarter-finals, it's going to be a very tall order to repeat the trick against serial maximum hitter Littler. What’s more, ‘Goldfinger’ is not exactly renowned for being a heavy 180 scorer, evidenced by his seasonal return of 159. It’s also worth noting that Littler hit five 180s to Gilding’s one when the pair met at the 2024 World Darts Championships.
