📈 Swansea v Middlesbrough Form & Stats

After being swept aside 3-0 by league leaders Coventry in their last home game, Swansea came from 3-1 down to claim a 3-3 draw away at Sheffield United on Good Friday. That stalemate keeps Vitor Matos’ men sitting comfortably in 16th position, with a relegation battle unlikely and any push for a top six finish almost certainly out of reach.

Swansea’s 3-3 draw with Sheffield United marked just their eighth stalemate from 40 Championship matches this season, which ranks them among the division’s lowest for draws.

While Swansea suffered a 3-0 defeat in their last home game against Coventry, they have been strong at home in recent months, claiming maximum points from eight of their previous 11 matches in front of their own supporters.

In contrast to Middlesbrough, Swansea are not a team that rack up high corner totals, averaging just 4.63 per game this season.

Middlesbrough's automatic promotion hopes took a serious hit when they fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Millwall on Friday. That bruising setback saw Kim Hellberg’s side drop out of the top two and down to 3rd, and they could find themselves in 4th spot by the time they take to the field on Monday.

Even more worrying for Middlesbrough is that they have failed to win any of their last four league matches, registering just two victories in their previous nine. It is also worth noting that four of Middlesbrough's last eight league matches have ended all square, including their most recent road trip at Blackburn.

Middlesbrough have been the corner kings of the Championship this season, averaging a league-high 6.73 per game.

Both teams have scored in five of Middlesbrough's last seven league matches away from home, with each of those five fixtures also featuring over 2.5 goals.

📔 Swansea v Middlesbrough Formation & Team News

Swansea boss Vitor Matos has made use of both 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations in recent weeks, opting for the latter in Friday's 3-3 draw with Sheffield United.

The hosts come into this clash with an almost fully fit squad, with Zeidane Inoussa the only player currently sidelined.

After utilising a 4-1-4-1 formation in recent weeks, Kim Hellberg switched to a 3-4-2-1 against Millwall on Friday. It is, therefore, difficult to predict which system the Boro boss will choose on Monday evening, particularly as he is likely to be considering changes to his starting XI.

As was the case on Friday, Middlesbrough are again expected to be without Darragh Lenihan, Hayden Hackney, Leo Castledine, Morgan Whittaker and Samuel Silvera due to injury. On top of that, Matt Targett’s availability is in question after he was forced off in the final 10 minutes against Millwall, while Alfie Jones is a doubt.
