📈 Portsmouth v Oxford Form & Stats

Portsmouth picked up what could prove to be a precious point in their fight for survival by netting a late equaliser away at Norwich in a 1-1 draw on Friday. That stalemate, combined with results elsewhere, saw Pompey end the weekend perched precariously above the relegation zone, holding just a one-point buffer over the bottom three.

While that stalemate will have lifted spirits as it brought an end to a three-game losing run, John Mousinho’s side are now without a win in seven matches, losing five of those. It is also worth noting that Portsmouth have come away empty-handed from each of their last four league games at home.

Portsmouth’s Championship games have tended to be low-scoring this season, underlined by the fact that 22 of their 39 matches have featured under 2.5 goals, a sample that includes five of their last eight fixtures at Fratton Park.

Oxford added another point to their tally in their bid to beat the drop by coming from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at home to Hull on Friday. While that draw means Matt Bloomfield’s men remain in the relegation zone, they have lost just one of their last six league matches, winning three of those.

Sharing the spoils has been a recurring theme for Oxford this season, with Friday’s draw against Hull their 13th in the Championship this term.

Despite being embroiled in the battle to beat the drop, Oxford have been one of the best-behaved sides in the Championship this season, receiving an average of just over 1.5 cards per game. It is also worth noting that the Us have been shown just one red card across their 40 league matches this season.

Only Sheffield Wednesday (24) have scored fewer goals than Oxford (37) in the Championship this season.

📔 Portsmouth v Oxford Formation & Team News

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho is well known for setting his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The hosts’ survival prospects are hampered by a lengthy injury list, which includes Ebou Adams, Florian Bianchini, Franco Umeh, Josh Knight, Josh Murphy, Mark Kosznovszky, Thomas Waddingham and Zak Swanson.

On a brighter note, Andre Dozzell and Keshi Anderson returned to the matchday squad on Friday and are now pushing for a recall to the starting XI.

Matt Bloomfield’s preferred setup is a well structured 4-2-3-1 formation, a system he is likely to stick with for Monday’s crunch clash with Portsmouth.

The visitors’ injury list is made up of Brian De Keersmaecker, Greg Leigh, Jack Currie and Tyler Goodrham. Brodie Spencer is in contention for a start after impressing as a half time substitute last time out.
