Thursday’s La Liga Accumulator Tips
After an impressive previous campaign that saw Girona achieve their highest La Liga finish in their history, it has been a rough start to the new season.
Given that a number of their core squad last season departed over the summer, a drop-off in results was expected.
However, it’s worth noting that Girona have had two difficult fixtures so far. Their opening game against Real Betis saw them salvage a draw with a late goal, but they were able to fashion good chances. Girona created 1.58 xGF from 13 shots. They then were put to the sword by Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano, although that has proven to be one of the most gruelling fixtures in La Liga.
After two tough away fixtures, Girona will be looking forward to their first home game of the season against Osasuna. They fared much better at the Montilivi Stadium last campaign. managing 15 wins from 19 games, scoring 53 times at an average of 2.8 goals per game.
Girona were dominant against Osasuna last season, with a 4-2 victory at the El Sadar Stadium, before a 2-0 win on home turf.
With Real Madrid opting for an ultra-attacking formation, games have been more end-to-end. Mallorca found success in the final third, with 12 shots and eight corners against Los Blancos in their opening game of the season.
The visitors were not at their best that game, but still managed seven corners, taking the total corner tally to 15. Real Madrid were much more dominant in the proceeding game against Real Valladolid at the Bernabeu. The total corner count in that game was ten – shared evenly with five apiece.
Las Palmas have also seen at least nine corners in both league games so far. Last season, Los Amarillos conceded the second-most corners in La Liga, while Real Madrid were awarded the third-most. That’s a trend that marries up nicely to back corners in this game.
Real Madrid certainly have the potential to hit the high corner lines here, but they’ve allowed their opponents to find chances in recent games. With the home crowd behind them, Las Palmas will look to take advantage on the break, ideally contributing to the total corner tally.
