Jong Ajax v VVV Venlo
🏟
Monday 25th April – 7:00PM KO
Several of the academy teams didn’t play their Eerste Divisie game on Friday, but were instead shifted to the Monday and that favours them. It means that the young players from the first team, who didn’t get game time at the weekend, can get a proper game in on Monday. In this case that will probably go for the three Mo’s; Daramy, Ihattaren and Kudus. Kudus played ten minutes against NEC on Saturday and provided the assist for the winning goal, but he might still get game time here.
On the other hand, captain Kenneth Taylor almost played a full game and surely won’t feature. The same seems to go for Liam van Gelderen. The right back played the second half as replacement for the injured Perr Schuurs and it is not clear whether he will feature with Jong Ajax in this game.
For VVV, this season is over. They are out for the play-offs and that is a massive disappointment for the side that got relegated last summer. They’d at least expected to be in the battle for the play-offs, but they were pretty woeful for most of the season. In recent matches it showed that they have given up with the 5-0 home defeat against ADO Den Haag as absolute low.
They did beat Telstar in the last game, which has taken the edge off the pressure on the team, and I doubt they can really recharge for this Monday night game against an academy team. That won’t be the same for Jong Ajax. Towards the end of the season, there are always a lot of eyes aimed at the youth players. They might even get a few games in the first team, so I suspect that the motivation will be a lot higher for the home side.

Jong PSV v MVV Maastricht
🏟
Monday 25th April – 7:00PM KO
Maximiliano Romero and Richard Ledezma featured for the academy team was at the start of this month, but since then, they have always had to join the first team. PSV played Conference League, league and cup and Ledezma and Romero got a bit of playing time in some of those games. Now the league is all that lasts and the next game won’t be until next Sunday, so they might be given a chance at some extra match fitness with the youth team (usually 60 minutes).
Dennis Vos, Johan Bakayoko and Jenson Seelt also joined the first team at the weekend, but they didn’t get any playing time and will surely start this game. MVV sacked manager Klaas Wels at the start of this month and put assistant Maurice Verberne in charge. With four points from three games, Verberne hasn’t done badly with MVV, but the victory was over Helmond Sport, who are rock bottom in the Eerste Divisie.
Motivation in Jong PSV will surely stay high until the last day of the season, because manager Ruud van Nistelrooij will become the head coach of the first team from next season. Players from the youth team eye a chance to move up with their manager, so I suspect they will be far more motivated and stronger than MVV and claim a fairly easy victory.
