Napoli take on Bologna in the final of the Italian Super Cup with both teams coming though tight semi final ties against the two Milan sides.

Both have recent experience of lifting silverware as well, with this final being the meeting of the current Scudetto and Coppa Italia holders.

📈 Napoli v Bologna Form & Stats

Napoli managed their semi final tie against Milan pretty well with Conte’s side striking either side of half time through Neres and Hojlund to set up this intriguing final. It’s not been the smoothest of title defences for Napoli so far this term with their involvement in the Champions League having an adverse effect on their domestic performances.

They’re still in the title race which is very tight at the moment, and victory here could be the settler they need to take control of that battle. Napoli have lost significant firepower over the last year with Khvica Kvaratskhelia leaving the club, and Lukaku injured for the foreseeable future - Neres and Hojlund have shown promise when it comes to plugging this gap, but still have a way to go to match the output of Kvaratskhelia and Lukaku.

Rasmus Hojlund took his goal brilliantly in the semi final against Milan which sealed the 2-0 victory for Conte’s side. I’d keep an eye on him again here for goals and shots on target, he’s playing with a lot more confidence than the version of Hojlund that we saw at Manchester United and should get chances here with Napoli having one of the strongest attacking records in Serie A this term.

Bologna are a very intense side and should be given credit for overturning Inter in the semi final and reaching their second final in two seasons, having won the Coppa Italia last year. They beat Milan 1-0 in that final, and I’d anticipate another low scoring and potentially scrappy affair here. Bologna have managed to avoid defeat against Napoli in the last two head to head meetings between these sides.
