Newcastle United have had something of a meteoric rise in the past 18 months. They were a club in disarray for many years under the ownership of Mike Ashley, but since the Saudi Arabian takeover, their fortunes have turned.
They now have the richest owners in the Premier League and after securing Champions League football for next season, the summer transfer window is a very exciting time for NUFC fans. They have been linked with some massive names and have already completed some fantastic deals since being taken over.
Sandro Tonali is on the verge of completing a huge move from AC Milan, this move came as a shock to many including us at ABC. Tonali seemed the type who would always stay in Italy, it will be interesting to see how he fares in the Premier League.
The real head-scratching question is, who will they sign next? In this piece, we will be having an in-depth look at the Newcastle transfer odds and taking you through some of the potential Magpies of next season.

Newcastle United transfer odds
Potential Signings | Odds (via PaddyPower) |
---|---|
James Ward-Prowse | 4.5 |
Dominik Szoboszlai | 5.0 |
Federico Chiesa | 6.0 |
Randal Kolo Muani | 34.0 |
Ward-Prowse to bring dead ball magic to Tyneside?
James Ward-Prowse was one of the bright lights in a dark, dark season for Southampton. He scored countless worldie free-kicks but set pieces aren’t the only thing the midfielder has to his game.
He played as a box-to-box 8 for Southampton last season; he is just as comfortable intercepting passes as he is spraying balls forward for attackers. Following Southampton’s relegation, a transfer for the midfielder looks more than likely. He is one of the most likely signings for the Magpies according to the Newcastle transfer odds.
He wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter in black and white, Joelinton and Bruno Guimareas would likely remain first choice and his chances would be pushed back even further if the Tonali deal goes through.
He would come in as more of a squad player. Signing him as well as Sandro Tonali would be a real show of intent for Newcastle. They’ll be hoping to reach the latter rounds of all competitions and for that dream, you need depth.
Ward-Prowse is also a great wildcard to have in knockout competitions, if you win a late freekick there’s not many men in world football (if any) that you’d rather have stood over the ball than Prowsey.
Chiesa to make a Premier League switch?
Federico Chiesa is a fabulous talent who is just hitting his prime years. He has spent his career purely in Italy so far. He made his name at Fiorentina, making his debut back in 2016 against Juventus. He ended up joining Juventus on loan in 2020 and signed permanently just last summer.
His last season has been struck with injury troubles and a few lacklustre performances but this hasn’t sullied the interest of Europe’s elite clubs. Chiesa stocks may be low right now, but isn’t that the best time to make an investment?
Chiesa has shown fantastic potential in his career so far, he just needs to find that consistency. At Juventus in 2023 this doesn’t seem too possible. The Bianconeri were struck with a points ban last season which led them to miss out on a UEFA Champions League place.
On the other hand, the rest of the Italian elite performed exceptionally well in Europe last season. Roma, Fiorentina and Inter featured in the three European Cup finals.
It seems we’re at a time where Juventus are in a rebuilding phase, which isn’t the ideal prospect for a player like Chiesa who is still yet to truly find his feet. At this moment in time Newcastle are a much more appealing outfit. Which is why the Newcastle transfer odds are so hot.
At 5/1 on Paddy Power, Newcastle are the second favourites behind Liverpool to sign the winger. With the vast amount of wide talent already at Liverpool’s disposal and their lack of UCL football, we see Newcastle as a much more likely destination for Chiesa.
Kolo Muani to reach his potential at St James’s Park?
Finally, we have a little bit more of a rogue shout. Randal Kolo Muani has been linked with many top clubs after what has been a fantastic season for him. He found his recognition after earning a call up to the France 2022 World Cup.
Sadly, his tournament will be remembered for the wrong reasons. He missed a huge chance in the dying embers of the final which France went on to lose via pens. This doesn’t take anything away from his season though, he has been phenomenal for Eintracht Frankfurt from the striker position.
He managed 15 goals and 11 assists in 32 matches in the Bundesliga this season. Just a single goal and assist behind the leaders in those categories in the Bundesliga.
There is no doubt that he would be a huge asset to the Magpies, but this is more of an outside pick. Compared to the other Newcastle transfer odds on this list, this one looks very unlikely. He is currently 33/1 to sign for Newcastle whilst being at just 3/1 to join Man Utd.
Despite the odds, we don’t see this move as being impossible. Newcastle have a strong interest in the forward and their scouts were spotted watching him during the last game of Frankfurt’s season.
