It was a disappointing start to the season for Brann who were well beaten 3-0 by Fredrikstad in the opening game. However, a fluke own goal, conceding from a throw-in and facing a goalkeeper in sublime form masked the result somewhat. Brann will argue they outplayed their opponents between both boxes and should have at least scored in the game. 

They now face a Tromso side who won their first match 1-0 at home to Haugesund, but they were significant favourites. They should have won by a greater margin and this is a much tougher test away against one of the favourites to finish in the top few places in the division. Tromso have lost on all three of their recent visits to this stadium and Brann can bounce back with three points here. Home advantage, plus their quality, should see them through to victory.

Both sides started the season with a defeat and will be eager to bounce back here. Haugesund offered very little away against Tromso and did well to only lose 0-1 eventually. They are expected to struggle this season and only survived last year via the relegation playoff match. Haugesund have a limited squad, they were one of the lowest scoring teams in the 2024 campaign, netting just 29 goals.

Stromsgodset lost at home to Rosenborg 1-2 and were generally outplayed. Perhaps better was expected but they have faced one of the teams expected to be in the medal hunt - it might not look like such a bad defeat in the long run. Godset will hope to get their first points on the board, preferably with a victory but at least with a draw. This fixture ended in a 0-0 draw last season and Godset won the other game 2-0. They are the better team with more quality and so backing them in the double chance market feels quite safe here.

Both teams suffered very poor defeats last week, with Molde especially disappointing. The 2022 Eliteserien champions, who reached the last 16 of the UEFA Conference League, were humbled 0-2 at home to Sarpsborg and the damage could have been even worse. Molde were regularly caught out on the break and seemed disjointed, under prepared and not ready for the test. New manager Per Mathias Hogmo might need some time to get his tactics across and right now Molde perhaps don’t have the right fit of players for his system.

Sandefjord lost 1-3 away to KFUM Oslo in the first round match, they are a team who perennially get involved in the relegation battle but are a plucky side who are capable of nicking wins out of nowhere. Sandefjord should be boosted by the fact that they beat Molde twice last season, including as a massive 9/1 underdog. This home fixture ended 3-1 last season and goals should be on the menu again. Molde look vulnerable and neither defence can be trusted based on what we saw last weekend.

Both sides got off to a winning start last week so should be full of confidence here. Sarpsborg were a clear underdog to beat Molde away but put in a sensational performance to beat them 2-0 and the margin could’ve been even bigger. Their star attacker Sondre Ørjasaeter looked especially dangerous and is one to keep an eye on. The manager Christiam Michelsen likes to play a high pressing and counter system which can be lethal.

Newly promoted Vålerenga beat Viking 3-1 in what was another surprise result. Vålerenga, who were shockingly relegated from the Eliteserien in 2023, will be delighted to get a win on the board so early and look lively in attack with the likes of Henrik Bjordal, Brice Ambina and Muamer Brajanac. Manager Geir Bakke comes back to face one of his former clubs so will be desperate to get a result. This is a game which is likely to be played on the front foot by both teams so taking over 2.5 goals looks like the best bet.
