Yellows take on Yellows as Oxford United travel to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City.
Despite being down in 11th position, The Canaries are chasing a play-off spot, finding themselves just 4 points behind 6th placed West Brom.
Oxford have done well to position themselves 7pts above the drop zone in their first season back in the 2nd tier.
⭐ Norwich v Oxford Best Bet
Norwich have lost just 3 times at home this season, winning 8 times and drawing 6. They have scored a total of 41 goals from their home games, which is 2nd only to league leaders Leeds United.
They have covered the -1 handicap in 6 of those 8 wins, 4 of those comfortable victories came against sides currently in the bottom 6 of the table. They have not yet played Cardiff, and could only draw against Derby in a rare off day, the game after The Rams had sacked Paul Warne.
Oxford are 7th from bottom, so of a similar standard to the teams Norwich have been dispatching with ease. They’ve won just 1 away game all season, losing 10 of their 17 away games.
Their last away game was a trip to West Brom where they lost 2-0 pretty comfortably, with the Baggie having 22 shots to their 5. Norwich are a similar level of opposition with a more effective attacking unit, and therefore we can see Norwich winning cosily.
👕 Norwich v Oxford Predicted XI
🔍 Norwich v Oxford Players to Watch
🟡 Josh Sargent
Josh Sargent, when fit and available, has arguably been the best goalscorer in the Championship for the last 2 seasons now.
He scored 16 goals in 26 appearances last season, and has 11 in 21 so far this campaign, averaging 0.69 goals per 90 over that spell.
Sargent has scored 7 goals in his last 7 games, including 2 braces at Carrow Road against Swansea and Stoke. Oxford are two places below Swansea and two above Stoke, so we’re looking at a similar standard of opposition.
Norwich have scored 3+ goals on 7 occasions at Carrow Road this season, so it’s not unheard of for them to run up big scores, and we expect them to have a good chance of doing so here, so that brings the Sargent brace into play.
⚪ Cameron Brannagan
Oxford’s midfield general has been getting rather angry recently.
After negotiating the first 16 league games of the season and only having his name taken twice by referees, Brannagan has picked up 6 yellow cards in his last 8 games!
It’s a strange one as there has not been a huge increase in the amount of fouls he’s giving away. He’s only made more than 1 foul in a game 4 times this season, being cautioned on every occasion. He’s even been booked twice without making a single foul.
We expect Brannagan will have to do plenty of defending in this one, and probably won’t be able to resist a tactical foul which catches the attention of the referee James Bell, who booked him just five games ago against Burnley.

💻 Norwich v Oxford Form and Tactics
Johannes Hoff Thorup has certainly brought entertainment for the neutral at Carrow Road this season, with no ground seeing more goals. A total of 64 have been scored across 17 matches, which works out at 3.8 per game.
Thankful for the home fans, two thirds of those have been in the opposition net, with Spanish winger Borja Sainz leading tied in the race for the golden boot, thriving on the left of Norwich’s possession heavy 4-3-3 system.
Gary Rowett has steadied the ship at Oxford, which looked to be heading for the rocks under the stewardship of Des Buckingham. In his 15 games in charge, the U’s have picked up 20 points. They are now however winless in 7 league games.
Rowett sides are routinely well drilled, but they only managed 2 clean sheets in their last 7, and they were away to 2 of the 4 worst home sides in the league.
