Man United v Man City
This boost is too good to ignore. The last time there was a goalless Manchester derby was in December 2020, but the seven games since have produced an average of 3.7 goals per game.
Last season’s three meetings saw both sides score, with the games finishing 6-3, 2-1 and 2-1. It took just 13 seconds for the scoring to be opened in last season’s FA Cup final, and though we should not expect such a lightning-quick start on Sunday, it seems all but certain someone will find the net.
Manchester City have failed to score just once in the Premier League, away at Arsenal, a much stiffer test than they are likely to face at Old Trafford. They have also kept only three clean sheets this season.
Manchester United meanwhile have only failed to score twice, once away at Spurs and then at home to Crystal Palace. They have kept only two clean sheets, against Wolves and Burnley, and their makeshift backline will struggle to contain the attacking threat of City.
Neither side has seen any of their 18 Premier League games in 2023/24 finish goalless, and it would be a huge surprise if this were to change.
