Aitor Ruibal to have 2+ Shots

With Antony still yet to complete a permanent move to Real Betis, a gap has been left on the right wing. Aitor Ruibal stepped up to fill the role last time out, moving into a more advanced position than his usual right-back spot, and he made an immediate impact.

The 29-year-old opened his account for the season after 21 minutes, giving Betis the lead after coolly rounding the goalkeeper. He registered three shots in total, with two hitting the target. Playing in a more advanced role than usual, I expect Ruibal to keep popping up in dangerous positions, which makes this price stand out.

Antonio Martinez to have 1+ Shots on Target

Kike Garcia was the star of this fixture last time out, firing a hat-trick at the Benito Villamarin Stadium to earn his side three point. Since then, however, he has departed for Espanyol, creating space for Antonio Martinez to step into a starting role.

The 28-year-old, who arrived from Porto last season, started just nine games in the previous campaign but was entrusted to lead the line against Levante in gameweek one. Martinez seized the opportunity, scoring a header after just 26 minutes and going on to complete the full 90 minutes.

He looked sharp and played the full 90 against Levante, so is a player to target once more.

Both Teams to Score

Real Betis may be without Isco and Antony, but they have still remained a potent attacking threat under the management of Manuel Pellegrini. Los Verdiblancos racked up 1.86xG in their season opener against Elche, with two big chances and 12 efforts at goal. Even in pre-season, Betis scored in all five of their matches.

However, issues at the back have persisted, with both teams to score landing in four pre-season matches, and against newly-promoted Elche. Even last season, Real Betis saw BTTS land in 14 of their 19 home games.

🟢 Chances Aplenty Under Pellegrini

Despite having a limited role under Diego Simeone last season, Rodrigo Riquelme looked sharp on his Betis debut, assisting Aitor Ruibal as Los Verdiblancos took an early lead against Elche.

It was a much-changed Betis forward line, but they seemed to gel together well with Giovani Lo Celso dictating play from an advanced midfield role. The Argentine, who chipped in with eight goals and three assists last term, looks set to be a key figure this season.

Betis played in a relatively passive block, managing just 32% possession. Even still, they accrued 12 shots compared to just six from the hosts. Betis had plenty of chances on the break to kill the game, but were eventually pegged back by German Valera, who slotted home in the 81st minute.

Los Verdiblancos were unfortunate to leave the Martinez Valero Stadium with just one point, but they will have to be more clinical in the final third going forward.

El Glorioso to Keep the Ball Rolling

Although Alaves left it late in their season-opener against Levante, a victory was fully deserved at the Mendizorrotza Stadium. It was centre-back Nahuel Tenaglia who emerged as the hero, firing in at the back post in the 92nd minute to send the home fans into jubilation.

After an uneventful first 30 minutes, Alaves eventually took the lead through Antonio Martinez, who scored with a commanding header following a corner. The hosts accrued 1.29 xG in total from 15 attempts, while conceding 0.87 xG from seven shots in return. Alaves dominated the ball with 62% possession, and were able to slice through Levante, forcing a total of ten corners.

After finishing just two points above the drop zone last season, Alaves needed a positive start to the new season, and they will look to build on that against Real Betis.

📊 Real Betis v Deportivo Alaves H2H

Alaves had the upper hand in this matchup last season, holding on for a draw at home despite receiving an early red card, before then beating Real Betis on their travels courtesy of a Kike Garcia hat-trick.

However, Real Betis have won four of the last eight encounters, which should give them some confidence.
