Royal Ascot Day 5 Double Tips
15:05 – The Hardwicke Stakes
🏇
Middle Earth
📈
Odds: 3.2
MIDDLE EARTH arrives at the top of his game, following a last-gasp victory in Group Three company at Newbury. He’s an unexposed type who has the beating of his rivals on official ratings, with the likely favourite, Continuous only ahead on the figures. Continuous could have something in hand but needs to prove his effectiveness after a lengthy absence and is worth opposing at short odds.
16:25 – The Jersey Stakes
🏇
Haatem
📈
Odds: 4.0
HAATEM has taken his form to another level this season, with a Group Three victory, followed by a pair of excellent places in the English and Irish Guineas. His second behind Rosallion at Curragh has been franked since, with him winning the G1 St James’ Palace Stakes this week. A strong bid is likely, under optimum conditions.

15:45 – The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes
🏇
Mitbaahy
📈
Odds: 7.5
MITBAAHY showed promise in his first two outings for this yard, prior to an impressive success at Curragh over this distance. The second that day, Regional, has subsequently finished an excellent runner-up in the G1 King Charles III Stakes this week. He enjoys quick ground and has the assistance of Jamie Spencer, who excels at this straight track.
17:05 – The Wokingham Stakes
🏇
Rumstar
📈
Odds: 13.0
RUMSTAR is one of a host of potential contenders in an ultra-competitive renewal of the Wokingham Stakes Handicap. He bounced back from a poor reappearance effort on heavy ground, with a promising second in good company at Newbury. His Ascot form offers plenty of promise – running a fine fifth in the G1 Commonwealth Cup last season – boosts confidence this time around. He can keep on into the placings at double-figure odds.
17:40 – The Golden Gates Stakes
🏇
Hand Of God
📈
Odds: 3.5
HAND OF GOD is one of the strongest selections of the week. The Churchill colt won with more than the winning margin suggested on handicap debut at Sandown last time. The manner in which he kept on that day suggest the extra 2f will be to his benefit, with a 3lb rise in the weights seeming lenient.
18:15 – The Queen Alexandra Stakes
🏇
Postileo
📈
Odds: 8.0
POSTILEO is an intriguing contender in this marathon event to conclude the Royal Meeting. The seven-year-old is lightly raced for his age and appears to be steadily improving for his new trainer. A keeping-on effort behind G1 Gold Cup winner Kyprios at Leopardstown in May was a fair run. Interestingly, cheekpieces are back on, too, which could eke out some improvement, especially for place returns.
