Look to Portugal to triumph in a game featuring two or more goals. Roberto Martinez’s side have won all three of their Nations League games so far, scoring multiple goals in each of those victories. In fact, the Selceao have struck at least twice in 16 of their 19 wins under current manager Martinez.

Scotland, meanwhile, have lost each of their opening three games in the Nations League, conceding twice or more on each occasion.

🔍 Scotland v Portugal Players to Watch

🔵 Anthony Ralston

Anthony Ralston stands out to commit at least one foul at 1.67. The Scotland right-back gave away a free-kick during last month's fixture with Portugal and he was also guilty of two offences on matchday one against Poland. Ralston also racked up four fouls across his three appearances at Euro 2024. He will likely be up against Rafael Leao, who has drawn an average of 1.43 fouls per game in Serie A this season.

🔵 Billy Gilmour

Billy Gilmour should have a lot of defensive work to get through on Tuesday night, making him an appealing prospect to commit a minimum of one foul at 1.44. The 23-year-old midfielder has fallen foul of the referee in each of Scotland’s three Nations League matches, including twice against Portugal last month. Gilmour will likely cross paths with Bruno Fernandes, who has been fouled in six of his last seven appearances for his country.

🔴 Ruben Neves

Ruben Neves committed a foul during Portugal’s 2-1 win over Scotland and a repeat looks worth siding with here at 1.44. He was guilty of two misdemeanours during Portugal’s 3-1 win over Poland on Saturday night. Furthermore, Neves gave away three free-kicks across his four appearances at Euro 2024, despite being a substitute on each occasion. He could be marking Scott McTominay, who has drawn 12 fouls across his last six appearances for Scotland.

💻 Scotland v Portugal Form and Tactics

Scotland are in woeful form with just one win in their last 15 matches. Their only success and clean sheet across that 15-game sample was a workmanlike 2-0 win over international minnows Gibraltar.

Despite putting in a spirited display against Croatia on Saturday, Steve Clarke’s side looked toothless in attack. They managed an Xg of just 0.91 and could only muster up two shots on target. Croatia, on the other hand, produced an Xg output of 1.25 and racked up 17 shots on goal, six of which were on target.

It was a similar story when Scotland met Portugal in Lisbon last month. The Scots gave up 26 shots, seven on-target efforts and an xG of just over three. Scotland have been pretty adept at drawing fouls from their opponents across their three Nations League games, winning the free-kick count in each of their opening three contests.

Portugal have shown no signs of a hangover following their quarter-final exit at Euro 2024. Roberto Martinez’s side have recorded three wins from three in the Nations League. The Selecao dominated proceedings during the most recent of those successes against Poland on Saturday night. Portugal generated an Xg of 3.01 and were well-deserved 3-1 winners in Warsaw.

They registered a sizeable 18 shots on goal, six of which worked the opposition goalkeeper. They also dictated the tempo of the game with 63% possession. That was also the case when they faced Scotland last month and enjoyed 68% possession.

Despite posting three wins from three, Portugal have been conceding plenty of corners. They have shipped seven, six and seven flag-kicks across their opening three group gamesIt’s also worth noting that Portugal have committed more fouls than their opponents in each of their last two Nations League matches.
