Over 1.5 Germany Goals

Slovakia claimed a 2-0 win over Germany in round one of World Cup qualifiers back in September, but Die Mannschaft have bounced back strongly since then, with four successive wins.

The Germans have been boosted by strong home form, as they cruised past Luxembourg on their last outing on home turf (4-0), helped by an early red card for the visitors. Joshua Kimmich bagged himself a brace in that game, and he also captained his national side to a 3-1 home win over Northern Ireland during the September international break.

Slovakia have struggled on their travels, which does not bode well for them here. They edged past Luxembourg by a 1-0 scoreline, registering a total of just six shots, while they also lost 3-0 against Northern Ireland in Belfast. Slovakia have been able to utilise their home advantage, but their away form has really let them down, which will fill the Germans with confidence. Germany have scored seven goals across their last two home qualifiers.

Over 7.5 Corners

Slovakia are not the type of team to go down without a fight, and they will be highly motivated to secure their spot at the World Cup for the first time since 2010. The Falcons managed five corners in the reverse fixture against Germany on home turf, and they are averaging 4.2 corners per game, showing how they can cause issues in the final third.

However, they also conceded eight corners against Die Mannschaft in that game, meaning the total of 13 corners in the reverse exceeded this line comfortably. In fact, Germany have seen at least eight corners in four of their five World Cup qualifying matches so far - the only game which failed to land this bet was against Luxembourg. Germany had seven corners in that game, but their opponents managed zero.

Slovakia should pose much more of a threat here in the final third, especially with so much on the line, which makes corners a target.

📈 Germany v Slovakia Form & Stats

Both sides still have it all to play for here on Monday night. Slovakia haven’t been particularly enterprising in recent fixtures, averaging just 1.6 goals per game in Group A, with BTTS failing to land in all five of their group stage matches.

Prior to their World Cup qualifying campaign, Slovakia were beaten by local rivals Slovenia in a playoff match. Across regular time in the two games, not a single goal was scored, and Slovenia eventually netted the decisive goal in extra-time on home turf. That result condemned Slovakia to another season in League C.

Germany fared much better in the competition, as they progressed to the playoff finals and eventually secured fourth-place, but they were dealt a shock result in their opening match this season. Goals from David Hancko and David Strelec helped the hosts to a 2-0 win, which certainly was a result which flattered Slovakia.

They scored twice from 1.28 xG, while the visitors racked up 14 shots worth 1.74 xG to no avail. Germany also had the lions’ share of possession, with 74%, but just weren’t ruthless with their chances on the night. A more clinical effort from the Germans here could see them win by a few goals.
