After losing out to Portugal in the Nations League final back in June, Spain have bounced back in imperious fashion, boasting a perfect record of four wins from four in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers, yet to even concede a goal. They travel to Tbilisi in Georgia on Saturday night hoping to keep that flawless streak intact.

Over 2.5 Goals

With 15 goals scored, Luis de la Fuente’s side have been succinct in the final third, and they have cleared this line alone in three of their four matches. While the one failure came against Georgia in the reverse fixture, it is worth mentioning that Spain fashioned 24 shots and ten big chances worth 3.54 xG in that game - they were unfortunate to only score twice.

Georgia have also seen at least three goals in every match excluding that one against Spain, but that has been because of their struggles at the back. They lost 3-2 against Turkey in round one of the group stages, before also succumbing to a 4-1 defeat against the same opponents last time out.

However, the return of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia to full fitness is a massive boost for Georgia, who will hope to at least give their fans a goal to cheer about on home turf.

Spain to have 6+ Shots on Target

Of Spain’s 24 shots in the reverse fixture against Georgia, 18 of those came from inside the box, highlighting how they were freely able to carve out high-quality chances. Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili made a total of four saves, as Spain amassed seven shots on target in total.

Interestingly, that was Spain’s lowest tally for total shots on target in any of their World Cup qualifying games, and by quite some distance too. La Roja managed 12 shots on target against both Bulgaria and Turkey, respectively, during the September international break. Last time out against Bulgaria again, they notched 11 shots on target, meaning they have landed this selection in all four matches so far, averaging 10.5 shots on target per game.

Meanwhile, Georgia were beaten 4-1 on their last international outing against Turkey, who registered a total of six shots on target.

📈 Georgia v Spain Form & Stats

Georgia’s only victory of the World Cup qualifying campaign so far has come in front of a home crowd, as Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze both got on the scoresheet to help their side to a 3-0 win over Bulgaria. Georgia also scored twice against Turkey in their other home outing, highlighting how they play with a bit more confidence in familiar surroundings.

But they have struggled on their travels, and successive defeats against Turkey and Spain in October massively dented their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.

European champions Spain have had no issues in Group E so far, as no side has really been able to lay a glove on the Spaniards. They secured a 4-0 win against Bulgaria last time out, with Mikel Merino bagging himself a brace from midfield. The Arsenal man has been in exceptional form for his national side, with six goals from four matches in the group stages, including a hat-trick against Turkey back in September.

While Georgia did manage to keep him out when these sides last met, Merino still popped up in great positions, registering a total of five shots. Mikel Oyarzabal has been another standout performer, with three goals and three assists under his belt in the World Cup qualifiers.
