👑 St Leger Day 2 Win Double Tips
JONQUIL delivered an impressive debut win at Sandown over this journey, despite meeting significant traffic problems. The first foal of a Listed-placed 6f winner, he showed a determined attitude once out in the clear, to peg back the leader in the final few strides.
It appears a positive sign that he is stepped up in class so soon and rates a promising type for his notable owners.
GREGORY holds strong claims in the G2 Doncaster Cup over 2m2f. His only flop this term came in the G1 Ascot Gold Cup and has held his own in stronger races than this, including a head second to likely favourite here (and stablemate), Sweet William.
This stiffer track could play to the selection’s advantage, and he could turn the tables this time around, especially if allowed to dictate matters.
🐎 St Leger Day 2 Each-Way Trixie Tips
MAGNUM FORCE was a touch unfortunate to not land a York Listed prize on third career outing, after winning a Cork maiden. Waiting for room at a crucial stage, the son of Mehmas travelled powerfully into the race, before keeping on strongly close home, just failing to reel in the winner.
Despite this class rise, he is completely unexposed and appeal as a sprint on the improve, avainst the majority of rivals who have had more chances to show their hands.
MISS ALPILLES has been raised 9lb for a clearcut success in a Haydock handicap over an extended 1m3f distance. The Ed Walker-trained three-year-old Sea The Stars filly improved for a short break in a first-time hood that day, coming with a late run to score a shade cosily.
Jamie Spencer is the perfect hold-up rider for her and she could follow up here, with her form subsequently boosted by the second and third that day.
SOUTH PARADE arrives in excellent form, following a trio of top-three runs, including a win at Thirsk and eyecatching effort at Newcastle last time. She confirmed herself as an improving individual, displaying plenty of zest throughout, running best of those to race prominently.
As a progressive three-year-old filly, she needs close attention from an each-way perspective, with her rider also taking off a handy 5lb.
🗒️ St Leger Day 1 Each-Way Lucky 15 Tips
Our first selection in our Doncaster Lucky 15 comes in the 13:50, where we have QUANTUM LEAP, who is heading into today racing off the same mark of 82 for the fifth consecutive race.
A five-year-old gelding who has been hindering himself in every race so far this year when slowly away from the stalls. Racing four times this year, he has been slowly away in all four starts but has gone on to run some strong races, just leaving himself too much work to do to land a win. Recording results of 2,4,3,4, his best performance came last time out at the Ebor Festival when finishing fourth of 16 in a class two event.
Sporting a big price of 33/1 and slowly away again, he did extremely well to stay on in the latter stages to get up for fourth. He is looking for a swifter exit from the stalls here today, if he starts well, he will be a major threat in today’s affair given how strongly he has finished his latest races.
Our next selection in our Doncaster Lucky 15 is AESTERIUS, who is looking for his fourth win of the season here today.
A two-year-old colt who is having an impressive opening season, recording three wins from his five starts and landing some high-profile races along the way. Winning a novice stakes race on debut comfortably by 2 ¾ lengths, Aesterius then took on the Norfolk Stakes Group 2 at Royal Ascot, where he ran a very respectable fifth and only around two lengths from the eventual winner.
Positive early signals as he landed his second win at Sandown in the listed company before going a step further and landing the Prix D’arenberg Group 3 in France.
Consistent performances from the colt who is looking to land his first group two race today, he finished three-quarters of a length behind Big Mojo at Goodwood in July, closing with every stride in their last meeting, and looks set to go one better here today.
Next up in our Doncaster Lucky 15, we have WHEELS OF FIRE, who is looking to land back-to-back wins here today.
A two-year-old colt who is racing in his first nursery after four solid appearances to start his career. Recording results of 4,3,3,1, Wheels Of Fire is finding his feet in racing, and after running well at Lingfield last time out over 5f, he is back racing over 6f here today. Racing three times on quick ground on turf, today’s good ground will suit the colt, and his opening mark of 84 looks workable given how he applied himself last time out at Lingfield.
Racing out of Richard Hannon’s yard, the two-year-old is in capable hands given he was one of the top five trainers at Doncaster last year, and Wheels Of Fire looks an appealing price in today’s event, searching for his double.
Last but not least, our final runner in our Doncaster Lucky 15, we have PROTEST RALLY, who is looking to continue his consistent run of form.
A well-raced four-year-old who has been the model of consistency so far this year. The gelding’s last 10 results have seen him finish inside the top four in all 10 of his appearances and picking up two wins along the way, he’s not one to overlook in today’s contest. Producing his best performances of late, Protest Rally’s last four races have seen him finish 2,1,2,2, and in all three of his second-place finishes, he was narrowly beaten by less than a length.
Stepping up into class four here today, the gelding has been showing solid form in classes five and six and should have no issues being competitive in today’s affair, especially with both of his wins this season coming on good ground.
