Genoa v Lazio
🏟
Sunday 10th April – 11:30AM KO
Despite still being in Serie A’s bottom three with just six rounds of matches to go, Genoa are one of the form teams in Italy’s top tier this calendar year and have proven tricky opposition for most sides that they’ve faced in 2022. Lazio, then, won’t have it easy when they visit the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to kick off Sunday’s action.
The Grifone fell to a 1-0 defeat at Verona last time out, which marked their first loss since a 6-0 hammering at Fiorentina on January 17. Since then, they had gone unbeaten in eight and had drawn seven of those. During that spell of seven straight draws, they managed to hold Roma (0-0), Atalanta (0-0) and Inter (0-0).
Not once since that loss to Fiorentina have they conceded more than a single goal, drawing 1-1 with Salernitana and Venezia in that run, while their only win was a 1-0 triumph at the Marassi against Torino.
Maurizio Sarri’s side will come up against one of Serie A’s tightest backlines when they travel up the coast to Liguria, and they’ll need their frontmen to be firing if they are to leave with three points.

Venezia v Udinese
🏟
Sunday 10th April – 2:00PM KO
The Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo hosts one of Round 32’s biggest games on Sunday afternoon, with Venezia fighting for their life at the bottom of Serie A, while Udinese make the short trip to face the Arancioneroverde having taken a huge step towards survival last time out in the form of a 5-1 win over fellow strugglers Cagliari.
Udinese have been in this very position so many times in recent seasons, so it’s hard to back against them finding a way to just keep their heads above water again this term to book their place in Serie A for 2022/23. A win at Venezia would put them comfortably 14 points above the drop zone, and they could realistically start to plan for the summer and beyond.
Venezia, though, desperately need to win to stand a chance. They’re currently three points off Cagliari with a game fewer played, so they’re far from dead and buried just yet. Recent losses to Ligurian sides – and relegation battlers – Sampdoria and Spezia, though, has them in a dangerous position and with relegation looming as a serious and likely threat.
Udinese will come into this weekend with confidence at an unprecedentedly high level after their win over Cagliari, and the Zebrette should have enough know-how to get the job done again and worsen their hosts’ problems.

Napoli v Fiorentina
🏟
Sunday 10th April – 2:00PM KO
A game packed with recent history takes place at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, and their are likely to be consequences felt in both the race for the Serie A title and the European places. Napoli host Fiorentina in a repeat of a game that has ended with very mixed fortunes for them in recent years.
In their Scudetto-chasing season under Maurizio Sarri, they fell to a hammering against La Viola after a win against Juventus had put them in the driving seat for the title. Last season, they picked up three huge points in Tuscany to set them on their way to a Champions League place, only to throw it all away on the season’s final day.
This time, though, the two sides come into this fancying their chances, as Vincenzo Italiano has made Fiorentina a very different beast this season.
Napoli are boosted by Victor Osimhen’s return to the XI after missing the 3-1 win at Atalanta last week through suspension, while Fiorentina only have a suspended Lucas Torreira to worry about. Giacomo Bonaventura and Alvaro Odriozola are also out.
It’s hard to look ahead to this game and not see goals and, given their recent history, there’s likely to be a lot of nerves on show as both sets of players recognise the significance of the tie.

Sassuolo v Atalanta
🏟
Sunday 10th April – 2:00PM KO
There are two general rules around Serie A that neutrals should follow that apply to this game. One is that whenever Atalanta play, they should be watched. The second is that same sentiment but for Sassuolo. As a result, the two meeting at the Mapei Stadium means that this is a game that cannot be missed.
Both sides are devout in their commitment to attacking, entertaining football. Neither of the two really give any great importance to the art of defending, and both sides play in a way that will suit the other.
Only once in their last eight games against each other have fewer than 2.5 goals been scored – that being a 1-1 draw in May 2021 – while Atalanta have put three (twice), four (twice), five, and six past the Neroverdi.
A curious subplot of this one sees Jeremie Boga return to Reggio Emilia having left for Atalanta in January, and he’ll want to prove himself against his former club, having fallen off a little bit in his final few months at the Mapei. He’s yet to really hit the ground running with La Dea, but he has shown flashes of brilliance in his short spell there so far.
With Giacomo Raspadori, Gianluca Scamacca, Domenico Berardi, and Hamed Traore, Sassuolo are more than capable of upsetting their visitors as well.

Roma v Salernitana
🏟
Sunday 10th April – 5:00PM KO
It’s been clear for months now that Salernitana’s stay in Serie A was never likely to last more than a season, and Roma can deliver another blow when they host the Campania side at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.
Jose Mourinho’s side will be desperate to bounce back after another shock loss to Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, despite having led. The Portuguese got caught up in a typical war of words after, but he would surely have turned his focus to Sunday swiftly after the game.
Their earlier meeting this season saw the Giallorossi win 4-0, and the home fans will be expecting a similarly straightforward game in the Eternal City this time. With the Europa League place hotting up and both Lazio and Atalanta facing tough games, Roma have a big chance to take hold of the race for fifth, and they couldn’t have chosen better opponents to allow them to do so. Although they suffered their European slip, Roma have found a bit of form under Mourinho in 2022 and they’ll be expecting to add to that and send Salernitana on their way to Serie B.

Torino v AC Milan
🏟
Sunday 10th April – 7:45PM KO
A scoreless draw at home to Bologna last time out wasn’t enough to knock Milan off top spot in Serie A, but they’ll need to bounce back on the road at Torino on Sunday night if they are to keep hold of their place at the summit.
The Rossoneri were uninspired last time out, and Torino won’t be easy opposition either. Torino won’t be too pleased with Milan visiting as they fell to a 7-0 hammering last time the Rossoneri were in town, but Ivan Juric’s Torino are a different side to the Granata of 2020/21.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic came off the bench on Monday but was unable to impact on the result, but his presence back in the matchday squad can only be a positive. Olivier Giroud is set to start, but having the Swede as an option off the bench gives Stefano Pioli a plan B that he hasn’t always had this season.
Milan have gone through much of the season so far failing to really blow teams away, and there is a belief that nerves might start to take hold now with their first title in a decade so close, but it’s hard to see them falling to back-to-back disappointments and they should have enough about them to take three points back with them from Turin.

Prediction: AC Milan to Win, 1.91 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Bologna v Sampdoria
🏟
Monday 11th April – 7:45PM KO
This game falling on a Monday night makes it an easy one to overlook, and it’s probably not going to be one for the neutrals. Although Sampdoria have improved since Marco Giampaolo’s return, their trip to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara is unlikely to be a thriller.
Bologna will be buoyed by their spirited draw away at the Stadio San Siro last time out, but even then they had little in the way of chances despite being defensively sound. Sinisa Mihajlovic’s continued absence as he battles illness once again will likely impact on them, but they’ll be determined to get a result for their coach.
Each of the Rossoblu’s last five games have ended with fewer than 2.5 goals scored, drawing three of those and losing to just Fiorentina and Atalanta in that time.
Sampdoria, meanwhile, have had a poor recent run and their win at Venezia recently only briefly interrupted a run of defeats, losing four of their last five. The Blucerchiati will also be looking over their shoulders at the drop zone, currently seven points above Venezia, but with a game more played.
Should Samp fail to win this weekend, there’ll be a real fear that they could be dragged into a real scrap for the final weeks of the season.
