Sunday’s FA Cup Accumulator Tips
Watford v Southampton
Sunday sees an all-Championship affair between two clubs with promotion ambitions as Watford host Southampton.
Our belief is that this game will feature goals with both sides playing a proactive style of football that is seeing them create chances while also playing with enough risk to give the opposition a chance.
Watford are taking this to the extreme recently, seeing both teams score in each of their last 12 matches. At Vicarage Road, Hornets fans have seen both sides score in nine of the last 11 games, including their 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Southampton, meanwhile, are on an incredible 21-match unbeaten run that has propelled them into automatic promotion favourites alongside fellow recently relegated outfit Leicester City.
Russell Martin has long been rated for his high-possession style and the fruits of his labour are paying off with one of the best teams in the division paying some beautiful stuff. They have scored in all but two matches this season but away from home, they have conceded in 12 of 15 matches.
On a Sunday afternoon that sees two Premier League giants face lesser opposition and a big West Midlands derby take place, this could prove to be the most entertaining game of the lot.
Liverpool v Norwich
The best team in England facing a side from the division below with defensive issues. This could spell trouble.
These pair are famously known for playing each thanks to Luis Suarez’s sensational goals and record but with fellow Uruguayan Darwin Nunez around, supported by Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota, the Reds are a force to be reckoned with – even without Mo Salah.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten at home across all competitions, scoring two or more in 14 of 16 home matches, three or more in 11 and winning 12 by more than once goal. They have managed at least 1.7xG in all but one home match – vs Arsenal – and even though a couple of changes are likely, they should still field an XI strong enough to take the Canaries apart.
Now, Norwich have conceded fewer goals on the road recently, but that doesn’t mean they’ve been good defensively.
David Wagner’s side have the fourth worst xGA in the Championship overall and the 2nd worst away from home. They have conceded at least 1.4xG in seven of their last nine league games. They have conceded two or more goals in four of six matches against the top four in the Championship.
