Sunday’s Premier League Accumulator Tips
Tottenham v Arsenal
Tottenham v Arsenal is the game of the day in the Premier League.
This is a North London derby with extra significance with both combatants chasing points for different reasons, and with tensions likely to be near boiling point, referee Michael Oliver could struggle to keep a lid on tempers.
The last North London derby in October (2-2) featured seven yellow cards, with Tottenham collecting four cautions to Arsenal’s three, and we expect Spurs to do the majority of the heavy hitting again in Sunday’s rematch.
Tottenham’s hardworking, energetic style under Ange Postecoglou can often make their fixtures frenetic affairs and only Crystal Palace (20.80) have been averaging more tackles per home game than Spurs (19.50) this term.
Spurs have also been collecting cards at a rate of 2.18 per home game in 2023/24 and only five teams in the division have been earning more on their own patch.
Tottenham committed a bone-crunching 19 fouls when they drew 2-2 with Arsenal earlier in the campaign, with four of their ten outfield players committing at least three fouls.
Postecoglou will want his players to be just as aggressive on Sunday and Tottenham’s card count could climb as a consequence. That in turn makes Spurs a very attractive prospect at an excellent price in the over 2.5 team cards market.
Nottingham Forest v Man City
The final game of the weekend in the Premier League is Nottingham Forest v Man City.
The treble winners travel to Nottingham Forest in the late kick-off on Sunday with the hope of continuing their charge for a fourth successive title. A 4-0 win at Brighton showcased Manchester City’s dominant form as they won a 5th straight domestic game. Flirting with the bottom three, Forest will be looking over their shoulder at Luton and Burnley’s results and praying they don’t take a hammering here.
Led by the electric Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne, City breezed past Brighton without really getting out of second gear on Thursday. The chances of a domestic double are still there and while they sit in second place, the title is well and truly in their hands now. Without the Champions League to fight for, there is little to no reason to expect Guardiola to rotate here. City games are usually high scoring, they’ve seen 3.39 goals per game in the PL this season.
Forest games have also been free-scoring this season, averaging exactly 3 goals per game. They’ve conceded the fifth-most goals with 60; only the bottom three and West Ham have a worse record in the Premier League. This bet has cashed in three of their last four, only falling short by a single goal away at Everton.
