Gustavo Puerta committed three fouls in Colombia’s most recent game against Ghana and has committed a foul in all four of his games so far, committing 2+ fouls in three of these games.

This is a really nice price for the midfielder to commit 2+ fouls again here; he’s as short as 1.33 with other major bookmakers and has a really consistent foul record when looking over a larger sample size.

Puerta plays his club football for Racing Santander and played in LaLiga 2 last season, committing 71 fouls across his 30 starts (2.39 per 90). He’s only 22 and can be quite rash with his challenges on this stage; he’s only actually made nine appearances for Colombia, including the three games he’s started at this World Cup.

This lack of experience may lead to Puerta being a bit overeager with his challenges. Colombia are averaging 11.7 fouls per game at the World Cup and actually committed more fouls than any other South American side during qualifying (14.1 per game).

He’ll be up against an experienced and dynamic Swiss midfield featuring Granit Xhaka, who was fouled five times against Algeria last time out, and Johan Manzambi, who has won three fouls across just 200 minutes of action at the World Cup so far.

Furthermore, only three players in LaLiga 2 last season picked up more yellow cards than Puerta (13), further showing how aggressive he is with his challenges. Getting 1.72 for him to commit 2+ fouls here is an excellent price; he’s as short as 1.33 with other leading bookmakers.
