Group G leaders Hungary will travel to rock bottom Bulgaria as the visitors look to close in on qualification for next summer’s finals.

Bulgaria have had an abysmal qualification campaign, failing to win any of their six games thus far, drawing twice and losing four. Goals have been hard to come by for the hosts, only scoring three goals in total. Bulgaria have struggled defensively, conceding ten goals and failing to keep a clean sheet. Three of these ten goals came when Bulgaria visited Hungary, losing 3-0.

Hungary are within touching distance of securing qualification, requiring one point from their final two games. Marco Rossi’s side are unbeaten in the qualifying stage, winning four and drawing two of their six games played.

Goals have been flowing for the visitors, scoring an average of almost two goals per game. Barnabas Varga has been their main source of goals, netting four times in four starts. Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai is key for Hungary, and the midfielder has amassed four goal contributions across his six appearances.

When the sides met in Hungary, Bulgaria struggled massively. Despite having the home advantage on Thursday, things will not be much easier for the hosts. Hungary will expect to win here, which would book their spot for the finals in Germany.

Estonia will welcome Austria to Tallinn on Thursday evening.

Estonia currently find themselves at the bottom of Group F, having only picked up one point from their opening six games. Their only draw came against Azerbaijan who have only picked up four points in total.

Estonia’s attacking output has been terrible, only finding the net on two occasions, with Rauno Sappinen scoring both. However, Sappinen has not been included in their squad for this break, making goals even less likely for the hosts. Estonia’s defensive record is even more concerning, with Thomas Haberli’s side conceding an average of three goals per game.

Austria have already qualified for next summer’s tournament, currently trailing group leaders Belgium by one point. Belgium are favourites for their encounter with Azerbaijan, meaning that Austria will likely remain in second place. Nonetheless, Austria will want to end the qualification stage on a high.

Austria have scored an average of more than two goals per game, with the likes of Marcel Sabitzer, Christoph Baumgartner and Michael Gregoritsch excelling, amassing 15 goals and assists between them. Ralf Rangnick’s side have kept things relatively tight at the back, conceding only seven times, keeping clean sheets on two occasions.

When the sides last met, Austria won 2-1. However, the scoreline does not reflect the fact that Austria were the much better side, dominating possession and having almost three times as many shots on goal. Austria should breeze past Estonia in this one.
