Tromso v Bodo/Glimt
Kick Off: Friday 16th May at 17:00
Competition: Eliteserien
Tromso have conceded 12 goals in their last five games
This local rivalry has produced six out of nine over 2.5 goal games in recent meetings
BTTS has hit in four of the last five Tromso league games
Bodo Glimt are on a poor run of three straight defeats in all competitions
In the battle of the Arctic Circle, two big rivals face each other at the Romssa Arena. Tromso were expected to be a dark horse this season, but have been inconsistent so far. They take on defending champions Bodo/Glimt who remain unbeaten in the Eliteserien but have endured a tough week, getting knocked out of the Europa League and Norwegian Cup.
Bodo/Glimt are the favourites around the 1.70 mark, but can they be trusted after their recent setbacks? Over 2.5 goals is also priced at 1.70, which is actually quite high for a typical Norwegian Eliteserien match. Glimt have three out of four clean sheets, but Tromso have only failed to score in one match. BTTS yes is also priced at the same 1.70 odds.
⭐ Tromso v Bodo/Glimt Predictions and Best Bets
Because Tromso have been conceding a lot of goals recently, over 2.5 goals looks the best bet at 1.70. Both teams are likely to contribute, but Bodo/Glimt could cover this goal line all on their own if they fire with all the offensive weapons they possess.
Glimt have kept three clean sheets in their last four, but the one time they faced decent opponents, Molde, they conceded twice. Even second-tier Aalesund scored against them in the cup. Therefore, Tromso should be capable of getting on the scoresheet.
For those after a bigger price, then Tromso double chance could be worth a go at 2.10. They will be properly fired up at home against their biggest rivals, and this feels like a Bodo/Glimt team in a delicate phase after losing three consecutive games in all competitions. Tromso have a good recent history of pushing them close, and this game could be tighter than the odds suggest.
🔴 Tromso's Defensive Issues
Tromso beat KFUM Oslo 3-1 in their most recent game, which was their first victory since the opening day. Tromso weren’t convincing, and a draw would’ve been a fairer result. They have lost their most recent matches at home, 2-3 v Kristiansund and 0-1 v Sandefjord. This is a step up in class and perhaps a worrying sign.
Conceding goals has been a problem all season. Since their opening day 1-0 win v struggling Haugesund, Jorgen Vik’s men have conceded 12 goals in five games. For a team that has been historically known for strong shape, organisation and defence, this obviously something they need to fix.
🟡 Glimt Suffering Outside Eliteserien Action
Along with Rosenborg, Bodo/Glimt are the only other remaining unbeaten side in the Eliteserien this season, but they’ve only played four matches. Glimt have not played a league fixture since 27th April when they beat KFUM Oslo 3-0 at home. Their two away matches have resulted in a 2-2 draw at Molde and a 1-0 win at Bryne.
Bodo Glimt have, of course, been in European action and suffered two disappointing defeats to Spurs in the Europa League 1-3 and 0-2. They were also in Norwegian Cup action on Monday night and suffered a shock loss 0-1 at second division Aalesund. This feels like a potentially tricky moment in their season, with just two wins in their last seven games in all competitions.
📊 Tromso v Bodo/Glimt Head-to-Head Key Stats
Since the start of the 2021 season, these two old rivals have met each other nine times in competitive matches, with Bodo Glimt victorious on five occasions, two draws and two Tromso wins.
This is the fourth consecutive season in which the two teams will meet each other on 16th May. Bodo Glimt won 4-0 last season and 3-2 in 2023. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in six of the aforementioned nine meetings. However, the 0-0 last season does show that local derbies have the potential to be tight and cagey.
Bodo Glimt assistant manager Gaute Helstrup used to manage Tromso but was poached by Glimt at the start of the 2024 season. This adds even more spice and bitterness to the rivalry.
