Bromley v Woking
🏟
Tuesday 25th January – 7:45PM KO
It was difficult to know how Saturday was going to go for Bromley. The Ravens’ form has been up and down of late with three wins in their previous seven matches and points dropped against Yeovil Town, Southend United and Maidenhead United, their first points dropped against opposition outside of the current top 10. What’s more, the club shared a statement early in the week confirming that an official approach has been made by League One Gillingham for manager Andy Woodman and while they did not want him to leave, they would not stand in his way if an agreement was met.
Normally, manager instability is met with a wobble and it says a lot about Woodman and his team that they went and beat Grimsby Town on Saturday, becoming just the third team to beat them on their own patch and doing so having gone 1-0 down. It suggests that despite the interest in Woodman, his and the squad’s core principles remain intact.
For Woking, it’s been a largely up and down season but a 2-0 victory on Wealdstone was much needed, especially the clean sheet which coincided with a debut for on-loan Grimsby Town defender David Longe-King. The issue here is that Woking have won just three matches against sides in the top 10 and they all came within the space of a week back in late September / early October.
With Bromley seeing the back of a difficult Christmas with victories over the sides placed 9th and 10th in the table, I’m going to back them to win again on Tuesday.

Stockport County v Maidenhead United
🏟
Tuesday 25th January – 7:45PM KO
Maidenhead United are a hell of a football club. Last season, they recorded 59% of their points against sides in the top half of the table. This season, they have won seven matches – five have come against sides currently sat in the top seven of the league table. They have won three of their last four league matches and that includes victories against Bromley (1-0), Chesterfield (3-2) and FC Halifax Town (1-0).
So, why will this be different? For starters, Stockport County are on an unbelievable run of form. They have won each of their last five matches, four by more than one goal. Recent victories against Solihull Moors and Dagenham and Redbridge also mean that they have allayed concerns about whether they can beat the sides in and around them in the league table. Stockport also have a perfect record against sides currently 16th or lower in the league table, which is where Alan Devonshire’s side find themselves.
As for Maidenhead, this will be their third game in a week which isn’t easy for a part-time outfit playing against full-time opposition. And it’s worth noting that their recent victories all came at home. In fact, Maidenhead have won just one away match all season.
Writing off Maidenhead always feels like something of a dangerous game given their record for proving the doubters wrong – as I found out myself when selecting Chesterfield to beat them – but it’s hard not to side with Stockport for this one and I think if the hosts score first, they will go on to win convincingly.

Torquay United v Solihull Moors
🏟
Tuesday 25th January – 7:45PM KO
In his post-match interview on Saturday, Neal Ardley confessed that his team have worked on creating more clear cut chances in games as they bid to push themselves back into the promotion race. Andrew Dallas has clearly taken the message on board, first scoring a hat-trick in the FA Trophy away at National League North outfit Southport before an incredible five-goal haul in their weekend victory over bottom of the table Dover Athletic.
Solihull Moors’ strength this season has been beating the sides below them in the table. Since losing 4-3 against Weymouth on match day three, they have conceded just three goals in 13 matches against sides lower 10th or lower and picked up a hugely impressive 31 points from an available 39. It’s clearly something of a trait for Neal Ardley who recorded a similar record during his time with Notts County.
If that record is to be tested, it’s likely to be against a Torquay United side that are slowly picking themselves up after an indifferent opening to the season. The Gulls have won five of their last seven league matches and won 6 of 11 overall at home. They have also recently beaten Stockport County and drawn with Dagenham and Redbridge, suggesting a renewed confidence within the side.
Evidently, both sides will fancy their chances of victory here. However, with Neal Ardley’s team so competent against sides outside of the promotion race, Solihull Moors having the majority of their starting XI available for selection again and their forwards having renewed confidence in front of goal, I’m going to back the visitors on a double chance.

Prediction: Solihull Moors Double Chance, 1.67 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Wealdstone v Notts County
🏟
Tuesday 25th January – 7:45PM KO
The reality of the challenge facing Wealdstone this season has well and truly hit in recent weeks. After a run of three defeats in 14 matches, they have lost five of their last six during a period in which they didn’t play a league match for an entire month and faced four of the top seven. After beating Dover Athletic 2-1, they were brought back down to Earth at Woking on Saturday in a 2-0 loss. Wealdstone have recorded one victory in 14 attempts against sides 14th of higher in the league table and have lost four of their six home matches.
Meanwhile, Notts County have well and truly found their mojo. Since three consecutive defeats in late September and early October, The Magpies have played 11 league matches, winning eight and losing just one. Most impressively, that run has consisted of wins against promotion-chasing Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Solihull Moors, Dagenham and Redbridge and Wrexham while drawing with Bromley and Boreham Wood. They come into this fixture having won their last four league matches as well as a win against Eastleigh in the FA Trophy. Furthermore, their Friday night fixture against Barnet was postponed due to a COVID outbreak in the opposition camp meaning they should be well rested for this one.
The hosts are struggling for goals, generally struggle against the better sides and Notts County are in great form. Surely this is going the way of the visitors.
