Mauricio Pochettino’s side come into this match having already secured top spot in the group, following impressive victories over both Paraguay and Australia.
Turkey, meanwhile, have endured a disappointing World Cup campaign and have already been eliminated after losing their opening two matches.
As a result, there is little at stake in this encounter beyond pride for both nations.

📁 Turkey v USA Cheat Sheet
📈 Turkey Recent Form
As they typically do going into major tournaments, Turkey arrived at the 2026 World Cup as many observers’ dark horses.
However, Vincenzo Montella’s men have fallen at the first hurdle. Back-to-back defeats against Australia and Paraguay have condemned the Crescent Stars to a shock early exit. It is all the more surprising given Turkey’s strong form coming into the tournament, as they lost just one of their eight World Cup qualifiers and won six of those.
Despite those opening defeats, Turkey boss Montella is likely to stick with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, although he will be considering a few personnel changes. Yunus Akgun is an injury concern for the Crescent Stars, but apart from that, they have a clean bill of health.
📈 USA Recent Form
The USA have been one of the most impressive teams at the World Cup across the opening two rounds of group stage action. Mauricio Pochettino’s side hit the ground running in emphatic fashion by putting Paraguay to the sword in a 4-1 victory, before backing it up with a 2-0 success over Australia.
Those two wins mean the Stars and Stripes will finish top of Group D, regardless of what happens in their matchday three clash with Turkey. Notably, the win over Australia was the first time the USA have kept a clean sheet since a 2-0 friendly victory over Japan last September.
With qualification already secured, Pochettino has the luxury of rotating his squad for this fixture, something he is fully expected to do. The co-hosts lined up in a 4-1-2-3 formation against Paraguay before switching to a 3-5-2 system against Australia. Christian Pulisic and Cristian Roldan are both nursing minor injuries and are therefore unlikely to feature.
