📈 Werder Bremen v Eintracht Frankfurt & Tactics
Frankfurt were far from watertight at the back against Stuttgart midweek, as they conceded 20 shots and seven big chances worth 2.31 xG. Kaua Santos racked up a total of eight saves in between the sticks for Frankfurt - if it wasn’t for him, the scoreline could have gotten way out of hand.
The Eagles also conceded three times against Dortmund at the weekend, and it was a similar story. The Black and Yellows found plenty of success in the final third, creating 2.39 xG from their 16 shots. Despite that, it looked like Frankfurt were on course to secure all three points until Carney Chukwueneka equalised in the 95th minute.
Werder Bremen also conceded three times when they faced Dortmund midweek. It was a much simpler victory for the Black and Yellows in that game, as they were thoroughly dominant throughout. Bremen managed just six shots worth 0.52 xG, and were barely able to lay a glove on the hosts. The Green-Whites have now failed to score in any of their last three matches, but will hope to buck that trend against a Frankfurt side who have conceded the second-most goals in the Bundesliga this campaign.
📔 Werder Bremen v Eintracht Frankfurt Formation & Team News
The absence of Victor Boniface has been a real blow for Bremen, meaning Justin Njinmah should start up front once again. The Green-Whites have an extensive injury list to deal with at the moment, with the likes of Felix Agu and Max Wober out, while Naby Keita is also unavailable. Jens Stage and Senne Lynen should partner up in midfield once again, while Cameron Puertas will be pushing to re-claim his spot in the starting eleven.
Toppmoller is likely to go with a similar eleven to that which lost against Stuttgart midweek, simply because he doesn’t have many players to choose from. Jean-Matteo Bahoya replaced Ebnoutalib after just 20 minutes last time out, so is likely to come into this eleven this weekend. Nnamdi Collins only featured from the bench on Tuesday night, so could return to the backline in place of Aurele Amenda, while Arthur Theate has returned from suspension and will be available for this clash.
