The veteran Frenchman has looked on the verge of retirement for most of the season, but a return to the grass seems to have revitalised his season. He has always preferred the grass to the clay, and he has won 8 of his 12 matches on the surface this season.

Aussies are often good grass court players, they are another country, other than the UK, who have grass courts at grassroots level. However, O'Connell is having a poor grass court swing, with one win in six matches.

The Australian has a poor Wimbledon record, failing to progress past the first round in two of his three main draw appearances. With Mannarino's recent form in qualification and his match readiness, as well as a 2-0 H2H lead over O'Connell, he looks a great spot to start our acca.

Vekic has an excellent Wimbledon record, reaching the semifinal only last season. Whilst she has not had a vintage season, she still looks a big price given her back class on this surface and at this venue.

Vekic's relatively poor grass court form can be mitigated by the fact that her one win was an impressive one against Diana Shnaider, and she lost out in a tight three-set match to Linda Noskova, ranked in the top 30.

Kim Birrell has more 2025 grass court wins, but they are of a much lower standard. Her record against top 50 players on grass this season is only 1-2, with her win against a rusty Sofia Kenin at Eastbourne.

Uchijima has won one of her last five matches, including her only grass court match against Jodie Burrage at Eastbourne, a comfortable win for the Brit.

Shnaider is one of the new exciting talents on the WTA tour, and though she doesn't have the big titles to her name yet, she did win a grass court title last year.

She has a modest 3-3 record on grass this season, but this is her easiest assignment of the grass swing so far. Eight of Shnaider's last nine matches have been won in straight sets.

Last year's finalists have a lot of ranking points to defend here, which, if her motivation wasn't already high enough, will push her on further.

A player with eyes on the latter end of the tournament will not want to waste any energy in the early rounds. Paolini will want a comfortable straight-sets victory here.

Sevastova is 35 now and is playing only her 11th match of the season following an absence. Her only grass match in preparation for this was a 3-6, 3-6 defeat to Yue Yuan in Hertogenbosch three weeks ago. Though she can expect a step forward via her training here, Paolini should be a couple of grades too strong.
