Georgia performed well in their first-ever match at a major tournament but ultimately came up short as they went down 3-1 against Turkey in a pulsating contest at Signal Iduna Park.
As for the Czech Republic, they pushed Portugal all the way before succumbing to a last-gasp 2-1 defeat at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday night.
Ivan Hasek’s side are favourites to bounce back and inflict another defeat on tournament debutants Georgia on Saturday.
Georgia v Czech Republic Best Bets
Georgia demonstrated against Turkey on Tuesday that they are not at Euro 2024 just to make up the numbers, and they can land a blow on the Czech Republic’s defence on Saturday.
Willy Sagnol’s side have only failed to score in one of their last 10 matches, a sample that has seen them strike against the likes of Spain, Scotland and the aforementioned Turkey. The Czechs will need to be much more attack-minded in Hamburg but they could be exposed at the back as a result.
The Lions have leaked at least one goal in each of their last five outings, with both sides getting on the scoresheet in each of those contests. With that in mind, as well as both teams needing points to boost their respective qualifying hopes, backing both to oblige looks like a great value option.
Elsewhere, Vladimir Coufal stands out to commit a minimum of one foul. While the Czech defender managed to keep himself out of trouble against Portugal, there is a chance tempers could boil over here given the magnitude of the match for both sides.
Coufal was averaging a shade under one foul per game during the most recent Premier League season and he is likely to cross paths with Georgia’s star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia here, who was fouled three times last time out.

⚔️ Georgia v Czech Republic Head-to-Head
Somewhat surprisingly, this will be the first time that Georgia and the Czech Republic have ever come up against each other on the international stage.
While the Fifa rankings should not be used to gauge how any game could pan out, Georgia have shown themselves to be capable and competitive against sides ranked similarly to that of the Czechs.
Willy Sagnol’s side took points from both Scotland and Norway during qualifying. The Crusaders will also consider themselves unlucky to have come away from their maiden match of the tournament with Turkey empty-handed.
📊 Georgia Form and Stats
Georgia’s three-game unbeaten run came grinding to a halt in their 3-1 defeat against Turkey on Tuesday evening. However, it’s worth noting that was just the second time Willy Sagnol’s side have lost across their last eight matches, with Spain the only other side to come out on top against the Crusaders during that period.
The Black Sea country hit the target with five of their 14 shots against Turkey. That tally was topped quite considerably by the Crescent Stars, who racked up a total shot count of 22, including eight on-target efforts.
Unsurprisingly, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came in for some heavy-handed treatment against Turkey. Georgia earned a total of 10 free-picks against the Crescent Stars on Tuesday evening, with their 23-year-old talisman drawing no fewer than three of those fouls for his side.
Georges Mikautadze etched his name into Georgian history by scoring his country’s first-ever goal at a major international tournament. That strike was one of three shots the Metz marksman attempted during the match, though it was the only one he managed to hit the target with.
📊 Czech Republic Form and Stats
The Czech Republic were in the midst of a five-game winning run before running into Roberto Maartinez’s star-studded Portugal side on Tuesday night.
Ivan Hasek’s men had their backs to the wall for the most part against the Portuguese, conceding 19 shots, nine of which were on target.
The Czechs, in contrast, could only muster up five attempts on goal against the Selecao, scoring with their solitary on-target effort.
Failing to earn a single corner kick against Portugal further highlights just how unadventurous the Lions were in the final third last time out. Portugal, on the other hand, earned a sizeable 13 corner kicks.
Of course, Portugal are opposition of the highest calibre, so expect to see the Czech Republic play with the handbrake off when they go up against the lowest-ranked team in the tournament on Saturday.
