I think Falkirk and Motherwell’s clash in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon has all the ingredients for a high-scoring affair. Few would disagree that the pair have been two of the most attractive sides to watch in the Scottish top-flight this season.
The two teams met at Fir Park earlier this month, with Falkirk coming out on top in an action-packed 3-2 victory. Since then, the Bairns have been involved in a barnstorming 6-3 defeat at home to Rangers, as well as a 3-1 loss away at Celtic last weekend. That means there have been over 2.5 goals in seven of Falkirk’s last eight Scottish Premiership matches, including each of their previous four home fixtures.
All the signs point towards that trend continuing when they face a Motherwell side fresh from a thrilling 3-2 win over Rangers at Ibrox last Sunday. The Steelmen are following a similar pattern to Falkirk in terms of goal-heavy games, with five of their last six assignments producing at least three goals, including each of their last three.
