It seems that the bookmakers have priced Spain a little too generously based on the fact that they don’t need to win the game and are likely to make some changes to the team to give some of the squad players a run out.

Yet, this Spain squad is packed with quality and whoever comes into the team will be playing for a look in in their next knockout round game and are all still quality players.

Albania can look back with pride on their performances in their two games so far but even a second string Spanish side will probably still be the best team they’ve faced in this group stage.

The Spanish hit nine shots on target against the Italians and five against the Croatians.

Albania faced 5 shots on target against Italy as well, but a huge 10 against Croatia. The Spanish forwards are more dangerous than Croatia’s and Italy’s, and if Albania were troubled by those two sides, having the energy to deal with the Spanish press in their third game in eight days is going to be a daunting task.

There’s no reason to think that even a rotated Spanish team can’t still create a host of chances against an Albanian side who need to win to have any chance of getting through to the knockout phase, and will therefore be piling players forward.

Albania lost out on the corner count in both of their fixtures so far and Spain have gained the most corners in both of their games.

With the attacking force that Spain have, and somewhat linked to the above selection, we see them creating a lot of chances and troubling the Albanian goalkeeper, as well as attacking a lot from the flanks, which will force their opponents to concede corners.

With the Spanish very comfortable playing the ball out from the back, it’s difficult to see a scenario where Albania win the corner count, unless the game is particularly low on corners. Even then, Albania had just one corner against Croatia, despite having seven shots on target, and registered just three corners against Italy.

In a game where rotation is expected for Spain, Dani Olmo stands out as a player of interest. Coach, Luis De La Fuente, is a big fan of his and Olmo has been unfortunate that Nico Williams is in excellent form.

Olmo has eight goals in his 34 Spanish caps and with the potential admission of Alvaro Morata from the line-up, Olmo should craft a few chances to add to his international tally.

He is likely to start the game, but with the added extra of the Super Sub for this market, whoever comes in for him should also get goalscoring chances in what could be a wide open game.

The talented youngster has looked completely at home on the international stage and is more than just a quick winger with a few tricks.

He assisted a goal against Croatia and created a good chance against Italy. He has four assists in his last four games and with the way Albania have struggled against speed and physicality on the flanks so far, he should get a few chances to cut the ball back from good areas.

This is another market we are playing with the super sub, so whoever comes on in his place will keep the bet alive.

Both of Albania’s games so far have gone over this line and we see no reason for it not to continue into matchday three, with the underdogs needing a win to have a realistic chance of progressing.

The danger is a that an early Spanish goal might put a dampener on this selection, but we’ve seen with their performance against Croatia that the Albanians will fight until the very last minute, which should provide openings for both teams.

The more aggressive and open the Albanians play, the more likely it is to fall into Spanish hands, but there’s not reason to think Albania won’t create chances themselves.
