Alejandro Catena’s foul selection on Sunday comfortably landed, finishing with two to seal the illustrious 10-Gem streak. The aim now is to carry that momentum into midweek EFL Cup action, where Brighton travel to the Emirates.
Yasin Ayari is generously priced at 1.8 for a single shot, with some bookies as short as 1.29. The price disparity alone highlights the potential for value here, yet when you consider his current output, it only becomes more apparent.
Even when deployed in a slightly deeper role, Ayari continues to show attacking intent. His willingness to drive forward and occupy advanced positions has been a consistent feature of his game this season, averaging 2.1 shots per 90 with recent match returns of 2, 2, 1, 1, 2 (as sub), and 5.
Admittedly, Arsenal have restricted opponents well on home soil, conceding just 6.43 shots per game at the Emirates. However, there is reason to believe Brighton will still pose an attacking threat. They remain one of the most expressive sides in the league, coming into this tie off the back of consecutive 6–0 victories and averaging 14.29 shots per game on the road in all competitions.
Even if Arsenal limit clear openings, Ayari’s ability to shoot from distance keeps this selection firmly in play. Exactly 80% of his league attempts have come from outside the box, proving he does not depend on close-range chances to test the goalkeeper.
He also registered at least one shot in both meetings with Arsenal last season, and given his confidence and Brighton’s attacking style, I’m backing him to repeat that here, and hopefully take the Gem streak to 11.
