📂 Australia v Egypt Cheat Sheet

Generic

📈 Australia Recent Form

Australia finished second in Group D with four points, qualifying as runners-up behind the USA. They beat Turkey 2-0 in their opening group stage game, which immediately put them in an excellent position.

It was the definition of a smash and grab, but Australia showed resilience to keep Turkey at bay and hit them on the counter.

A 2-0 loss against the USA proceeded that win, but Australia were able to play out a 0-0 draw in the final group stage match against Paraguay, which ensured both teams qualified to the knockouts.

📈 Egypt Recent Form

Egypt had a slightly more encouraging group stage campaign, as they went unbeaten across all three matches in Group G.

The Pharaohs finished with five points from three games, with perhaps the most impressive result being a 1-1 draw against Belgium in round one. Egypt then picked up three points against New Zealand - despite a shaky start, they scored three in the second period to comfortably pick up maximum points.

Egypt were able to afford some rotation in the final group stage game with their spot in the knockouts already secured, but they still kept their unbeaten record intact with a 1-1 draw against Iran.
