Charleroi v Standard Liege

🏟
Sunday 9th October - 5:30PM KO

Charleroi host Standard in the Walloon derby. As always, this will be a highly loaded match. Both supporters' cores insist on the importance of this match. The winner of this duel will find themselves reconnected to the play-off spots in the Belgian Pro League.

Standard saw their 4-match win streak come to a halt against Seraing last weekend. This match showed once again that Standard has trouble dictating the game. Coach Dela can hardly be blamed, he managed to bring a change in mentality in the squad. The laconic approach of some players caused little dueling power and easy counter goals early in the season. Now there is much more grinta in the Rouches' play. Up front, with the purchase of Zinckernagel they finally seem to have found a striker who radiates confidence. Whether he will score many goals this season remains to be seen.

Charleroi as usual play sober and well-disciplined football, which against top teams can sometimes result in an outlier. We expect them to play with a lot of dueling power against Standard as well, and rather start the game from the defensive organization. Up front, Charleoi doesn't have a real goal scorer either. Badji, on loan from Club Brugge, still cannot convince. Standard always struggles against Charleroi in the Walloon derby, a game known more for its virility and cards than for its beautiful game. Therefore, we expect few goals.

Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals, 2.20 on Betfair (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
