Sturm Graz welcome Bodo Glimt with the near impossible task of having to overturn a 5-0 defeat from the first leg. Both of our selections landed in the first leg last week and I'm going for the clean sweep in this second leg.

Kasper Hogh to Score Anytime

I backed Kasper Hogh in the first leg and he delivered inside just seven minutes, notching the first of Bodo Glimt’s eventual five goal haul as they put themselves in a really strong position to qualify for the Champions League from this position.

Hogh is on a remarkable scoring run which has seen him find the back of the net in each of his last four matches across all competitions. Across his last seven matches, he’s scored eight goals which puts him in a really strong position to find the back of the net here.

Hogh has netted 16 goals across his 17 starts in the Eliteserien this season and can strike again here as Bodo Glimt look to cement their spot amongst Europe’s elite.

Over 2.5 Goals

Bodo Glimt were completely dominant in the first leg in having more shots (17-8), shots on target (6-1) and possession (58%-42%) than their opponents. They also won the xG battle with an expected goals tally of 2.03, one that they overachieved to score five goals.

We can expect more of an attacking threat from Sturm Graz in this game seeing as they netted 43 goals across their 16 home games in the Austrian Bundesliga last season (2.68 per game).

This should be quite an open game with Sturm Graz knowing the goal tally they will have to reach to have a chance of qualification here.

🟡 Bodo Glimt have real momentum

Bodo Glimt have all but qualified for the Champions League and it’s no less than their performances in Europe over recent seasons deserves. They reached the semi finals of the Europa League last season only to be beaten by eventual winners Tottenham so they have already shown that they have the quality to offer real competition to some of the more established sides in Europe.

Their first leg performance couldn’t have been any more perfect with five goals from their six shots on target in the game. They are unlikely to replicate the clinical nature of that performance here, and don’t need to either with such a comprehensive lead to defend.

Sturm Graz to offer more of a threat

Sturm Graz have made a steady start to their defence of the Austrian Bundesliga title with two wins from their opening three domestic games. Jurgen Saumel’s side edged out Salzburg, Austria Wien and Wolfsberger to the title last season and had a pretty strong home record across these games.

They won 11 of their 16 home games last season, netting 43 goals across these fixtures and conceding just 18. This tie is likely to be beyond salvation for the home side now with such a heavy deficit to overturn from the first leg, but we can ascertain that this will be a more awkward assignment for Bodo Glimt who are unlikely to have everything their own way as they did in the first leg.
