Specialist in Scandinavian & European soccer. I have been in the betting game for nearly 20 years now with a summer focus on the Norwegian & Swedish leagues. With an in-depth knowledge of the region & teams I have been involved in a specialist podcast & more for close to a decade. My favourite types of bets are attacking the goal lines and identifying the tactics & style of each team & manager who can contribute positively. Outside of betting I was once a Sunday League goalkeeper myself. But my boots are now retired and instead prefer to hit up the cricket pitch and golf course in my spare time.

Bodo/Glimt v Viking

🗓️

Kick Off: Wednesday 28th May at 20:00

🏆

Competition: Norwegian Elitieserien

  • Bodo/Glimt have a 100% home record and just beat Rosenborg 4-0.

  • Viking are unbeaten since the opening day of the season.

  • Viking have a bad recent record at this stadium losing on seven of their last eight.

  • Kasper Hogh has scored six times in six Eliteserien games so far this season.

Bodo/Glimt welcome top of the table Viking to Aspmyra Stadion and will look to build on their excellent 4-0 win against Rosenborg at the weekend. It followed a poor set of results for Glimt, who had perhaps been distracted by their Europa League run.

Viking travel here top of the table and unbeaten since the opening game of the season. They are a free-scoring team who can cause Glimt problems, but this has not been a happy hunting ground for them in recent years. Glimt are deserving favourites at 1.53, especially after such an impressive weekend performance.

Everyone was waiting for Bodo/Glimt to re-find some form, and they delivered against Rosenborg at the weekend (4-0) to remind us of how good they are. They should be over their blip and ready to kick on, looking to crush another potential challenger. Viking are a good side but not in the same class as Glimt, and they usually struggle at this venue. The 1.40 on offer for Bodo Glimt to win looks a backable.

Kasper Hogh has scored six goals in six Eliteserien games in addition to several other goals in the Europa League this season. Høgh is a top finisher and has been in great form recently, scoring against Rosenborg and Tromsø. He’s the most likely goalscorer for Bodo/Glimt and at odds of 2.0, this looks like the best value anytime scorer bet in this match.

Viking possess plenty of firepower and key man Zlatko Tripic is overpriced to score here at 4.0. He’s on penalty duty, all important free kicks and could be the most dangerous man on the entire pitch. Tripic has had a sensational season so far and scored seven goals in nine Eliteserien games. He’s netted a combined 25 goals in the last two seasons and is a reliable, proven scorer.

🟡 Bodo/Glimt Bounce Back After Tricky Run

Bodo/Glimt showed who is the boss in this league by claiming a brilliant 4-0 win against Rosenborg at the weekend. They had lost four straight games in all competitions, but roared back into life with a top performance.

They can now focus entirely on Eliteserien matches until mid-August when they enter Champions League qualifying, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they go on a red-hot run. Glimt have won four out of six games and have played by far the fewest fixtures of any team. They have a 100% home record, scoring 10 and conceding 0. This place is a fortress, and they won 10 out of 15 games here last season in the league.

Viking Unbeaten Since the Opening Day of the Season

Viking are unbeaten since the opening day of the season and are top of the Eliteserien table with seven wins in their last nine games. They’ve played more fixtures than most other teams, but their goals tally of 29 in 10 games is a brilliant return. Their defence is less secure, but they did just beat Kristiansund 1-0 away from home at the weekend, the type of gritty performance and result which you don’t normally associate with this team.

📊 Bodo/Glimt v Viking Head-to-Head Key Stats

The home team has won seven of the last eight competitive meetings. The most recent encounter was in August last year, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Viking have a very poor record at this stadium, losing on seven of their last eight trips. This fixture ended 1-0 to Bodo Glimt last season, but the previous three encounters here ended in a wild 5-3, 5-4 and 5-1 Glimt win.
