Wycombe to Win

I think the Chairboys should be the favourites for this game. They were a really strong League One side last season, and even when results tailed off following Mike Dodds; appointment, their performance data was still strong. He’s now had a pre-season to get his ideas across.

Both Teams to Score No

Added to that, I don’t think League Two was particularly tough last season, and even so, Bradford finished 7th in the expected points table. They’ve made some decent additions over the summer, but not enough to be on a par with Wycombe. I’ll be taking Wycombe to win the game at 2.88. I agree that it will be tight, so the 4.5 about the visitors to win to nil also appeals.

Richard Kone to Score Anytime

Wycombe have managed to hold on to top goalscorer Richard Kone, who scored 18 goals last season. He’s 3.30 to score anytime, which I’ll be taking. Kone will have one eye on the remainder of the transfer window if he can hit the ground running, and Bradford did not come across a striker of his calibre last season.

His 18 league goals last season came from an xG of 16.6, a slight overperformance but not one that suggests he won't hit the same heights again.

Bradford City host their first game in League One since 2019, with last season's play-off semi-finalists Wycombe Wanderers the visitors.

Bradford are favourites for this one with home advantage priced at 2.45, whilst Wycombe can be backed at 2.88. I think Wycombe should be the favourites for this game.

The bookies have this as a tight game, with under 2.5 goals the strong favourite at 1.6, whilst over 2.5 is 2.2.

🟠 The Future is Bright for Bantams

It’s always good to see a club of Bradford City’s size on an upward trajectory.

Graham Alexander is a steady manager in tiers 3 and 4. He’s done a good job at most clubs he’s been in charge of. The Bantams also have David Sharpe overseeing football operations, someone I know well from his time at my club, Mansfield, a respected operator in the game. He even picked up George Lapslie and Will Swan, who signed during his time at The Stags.

On the pitch, I think Bradford will be in for a tough season, involved in a relegation battle for the most part, but should have enough to stay up.

🔵 Dodds Needs a Good Start

After failing to impress after taking the reins last term, Mike Dodds is under pressure to hit the ground running with Wycombe this season.

He has had the chance to put his imprint on this side over the summer, something he consciously chose not to do after taking over from Matt Bloomfield.

As touched upon, Kone is currently still with the club, to complement other attacking options such as Daniel Udoh and Junior Quitirna. I expect there’ll be a more possession-heavy side this season.

📊 Bradford v Wycombe H2H

These two sides have not met in the league since 2019.

They have faced off in cup competitions in 2023 and 2024, with The Chairboys emerging victorious on both occasions.
