Doncaster Rovers won League Two last year, whilst Exeter finished in a comfortable 16th place in League One.
Doncaster are favourites for this one, priced at 1.85, whilst Exeter can be backed at 4.20. I would have these two teams in the same sort of finishing bracket, somewhere between 12th and 18th, so the odds look a bit too short on Rovers.
The bookies have under and over 2.5 goals at 1.85, so they aren’t sure what to expect.

🔴 Molyneux the Key for Rovers
Luke Molyneux should have been named League Two Player of the Season last term in my opinion, racking up 16 goals and 12 assists in 44 appearances from a wide attacking midfield position. Whether Doncaster handle the step up to the level will depend on Molyneux translating his form to League One, especially since loanee goal-getter Rob Street has not returned.
Grant McCann is also a big plus, having won promotion from this level in the past and reached the play-offs with Doncaster in his previous spell.
🔵 Exeter Full of Character
The Grecians are a club who, resource-wise, shouldn’t really be able to stick around at this level like they have so far, finishing between 13th and 16th in their last three seasons since promotion.
They’re a fan-owned club who often rely on their academy to produce sellable assets, with the likes of Ollie Watkins and Ethan Ampadu earning them a pretty penny over the years.
They’re a team that are always one of the favourites for relegation, but have recently gone on to survive with relative ease. I think they’ll do the same again this time around.
📊 Doncaster Rovers v Exeter City H2H
Doncaster and Exeter were last in the same division in 2016/17, seemingly missing each other through various promotions and relegations.
Both of their games that season finished 3-1 to the away team.
