3/1 Brazil v Colombia Bet Builder Tip
⚽ Over 1.5 goals
📈 Odds: 1.33
Just three of Colombia’s last ten games have had no more than one goal and likewise for Brazil. Colombia have already scored 5 goals in the competition and Brazil pushing for a victory here should lead to plenty of goalmouth action.
They’ll be buoyed by their ability to put chances away against Paraguay, which they failed to do against Costa Rica. Colombia can take a calmer approach to the game but will always be motivated to beat Brazil, no matter what the occasion.
🩹 Bruno Guimaraes to be fouled 2+ times
📈 Odds: 1.36
Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes will face a tough battle in the heart of Brazil’s midfield in this game. He averages 2.62 fouls drawn per game and has been fouled at least once in his last 14 appearances for Brazil. In those 14 games, he was fouled twice on eight occasions and fouled once in his last appearance against Colombia.
The Colombians hit 19 fouls against Costa Rica and average 14 fouls per game across the past few international seasons. With Brazil pressing and pushing for a win, the Colombians will try to stop any progressive play from the middle of the park and key to that strategy will be stopping the likes of Bruno Guimaraes supplying the dangerous attacking front three.
🎯 Vinicius Junior to have 2+ shots on target
📈 Odds: 2.30
Vinicius Junior will be delighted with his brace against Uruguay after a barren spell without scoring. He has, however, been fairly consistent in getting the ball on target in recent games for Brazil, with at least one shot on target in five of his last six games.
Julio Enciso had two shots on target from the left hand side of the attack in Paraguay’s game against the Colombians and even in a 3-0 friendly win, Saucedo Pereyra managed two shots on target for a poor Bolivia side. Colombia have shown they can give away quality chances and Brazil should find at least a few opportunities in this game.
9/1 Brazil v Colombia Longshot
🟨 Jhon Cordoba to be shown a card
📈 Odds: 2.63
Jhon Cordoba picked up a booking against Costa Rica and has three yellow cards in his past five appearances for Colombia, despite not completing 90 minutes in any of them. In fact, he picked up a yellow card in a 16-minute run-out against Paraguay last year.
With the attacking threat that Brazil pose and his average foul count of 2.1 per game, he looks a likely candidate to go into the referee’s book. The official in charge is Venezuelan, Jesus Valenzuela, who averages 4.9 cards per game across his 1000+ game career. This is his third Copa America and he has averaged 5.25 cards per game across those encounters. With the rivalry between the two nations, tensions could be high and Cordoba could find himself cautioned.
⚽ Vinicius Junior to score or assist
📈 Odds: 2.0
Vinicius Junior has three assists in his last eight Brazil appearances and has averaged 0.32 assists per 90 minutes across the past few seasons. He scored twice against Paraguay last time out and assisted a goal in his last appearance against Colombia with just 16 minutes on the pitch.
For Real Madrid this season, he has created 1.53 chances per 90 minutes. Against Paraguay, he created two key chances and created three in the goalless draw with Costa Rica. He will be the key attacking player to give Brazil a chance of winning the group, whether that’s through a moment of brilliance to assist or to finish off a chance himself.
🧤 Colombia GK to make 4+ saves
📈 Odds: 1.80
Camilo Vargas has been relatively untested in Colombia’s goal so far, with just two saves to make against Paraguay and none against Costa Rica. However, in the friendly just before the tournament, he had four saves to make against Bolivia despite Colombia’s 3-0 victory.
Patrick Sequera, in goal for Costa Rica, needed to make four saves to keep Brazil at bay, and Matt Turner of the USA had to make a phenomenal 11 saves to help them battle to a 1-1 draw. Brazil’s incentive to attack and Colombia’s more likely to look to counter will help our chances of this final leg of our longshot.
