Leeds would have been happy with a draw against Crystal Palace last weekend, after Gabriel Gudmundsson was sent off in the first half.

Leeds were forced to sit quite deep in the second period, and the game finished as a goalless stalemate. Before that, they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Sunderland, as Habib Diarra converted his spot-kick in the 70th minute. Leeds were wasteful in both of those games, meaning they have won just 11 of their last 13 in the Premier League.

Leeds have drawn 11 games this season, which is more than any Premier League side. They have been a difficult side to beat, but haven’t quite taken enough risks to secure three points, which is why they are struggling towards the bottom of the pile.

Meanwhile, Brentford have won five of their last seven Premier League away games, so they will be confident coming into this clash.

Brentford were unfortunate to only take a point against Wolves last time out on Monday night, after going two-nil up in the first half.

The visitors were able to fight back and level the scores before Reiss Nelson wasted a huge chance in the dying embers to snatch the three points for Brentford. Both sides were able to generate some good chances, and Wolves were denied by the woodwork twice.

The Bees managed ten shots, but that amounted to 2.56 xG, highlighting how they were able to generate some high-quality chances. Somehow, that only translated to six corners in the game, and Brentford accounted for just one of those, but Keith Andrews’ men have seen a noticeable uptick in corners when playing away.

Brentford are averaging 8.87 corners per game at the Gtech Community Stadium, but 10.94 corners away, with 5.67 corners for, and 5.27 against.

Leeds have been a lot more attack-minded when they play at home, with 3.4 corners per game when playing away, compared to 5.53 corners at Elland Road. They tend to generate a lot more chances when playing at home, and Brenden Aaronson has also seen an uptick in shots when playing in front of a home crowd.

Aaronson is averaging 2.3 shots per 90 at Elland Road this season, and he has landed this selection in each of his last three home starts. That even includes three shots against Man City.

Aaronson was benched for the reverse fixture at the Gtech Stadium, but he still managed to record a shot in his 20-minute cameo and was unfortunate not to score. He did, however, manage to land this selection when he last started against Brentford at home, with 2 shots in that game.

The reverse fixture was not a very feisty affair, and referee John Brooks didn’t have much to do. In fact, there were only 17 fouls committed in the match, and 0 cards shown. However, this selection still landed as Pascal Struijk was fouled once.

Struijk is only averaging 0.65 fouls drawn per 90 across all competitions this season, but he has landed this selection in four of his last five starts at Elland Road. He draws an excellent matchup to improve that hit-rate this weekend, as the Dutchman should find duels against Igor Thiago.

The centre forward is averaging 1.93 fouls per 90 in the Premier League this season, rising to 2.28 when playing away. He has racked up ten fouls in his last three away outings alone, highlighting how he often looks to make life difficult for opposing centre-backs.

Gudmundsson has missed two games this season, and on both occasions, James Justin has been the one to fill in on the left. The first game was against Man City in November - Justin lasted just 69 minutes before coming off with a knock, and he didn’t record a shot.

However, he found much more success in the final third against Everton. He had five shots in that game, four of which were from inside the box, and he even managed to find the back of the net. Justin has been active in the final third this season and is averaging 1.07 shots per 90.

He likes to get forward, and that number is relatively modest as he has played at centre back for large parts of the campaign. Justin should be able to get forward more often playing at wingback, and operating on the left, will be more inclined to cut inside onto his stronger right foot to shoot.

Keith Andrews confirmed Mikkel Damsgaard has been battling with knee pain recently, but it proved too much against Wolves, and he had to be replaced late on. That means Matias Jensen should feature in a more advanced role this weekend in his place, and his shot markets become a target.

Jensen is averaging 1.25 shots per 90 in the Premier League this season, rising to 1.54 when playing away. Again, that includes games where he has played in a deeper midfield role, so those figures could be set to rise if Damsgaard remains out.

The Danish international has registered a shot in each of his last six starts on the road, and has hit the target in three of those matches. Brentford should be able to find some good chances against a struggling Leeds side, and Jensen will hope to be involved going forward.

Jayden Bogle is averaging 1.2 fouls per 90 across all competitions this season, so he has been somewhat lucky to have only picked up five bookings in his 31 appearances. That is much lower than his tally of 12 yellow cards last season, when Leeds were playing in the Championship.

However, he could be in for a tough afternoon here, up against Kevin Schade. Following Gudmundsson’s red card last time out, James Justin looks set to shift over to left wing-back, to allow Bogle to reclaim his starting spot on the opposite flank. Bogle had two fouls to his name when he last faced Brentford, even though Schade was absent due to suspension.

The German international is averaging 1.58 fouls drawn per 90 when playing away this season, highlighting how he can be a difficult player to contain, and he often looks to drive at his opposing defender.
