Marvin Ducksch has been an effective signing for Birmingham City so far after joining the club from Werder Bremen over the summer. He’s netted seven goals across his 18 starts in the Championship this term, managing 38 shots across those matches (2.48 per 90).
Ducksch played a starring role in Birmingham’s 3-2 win over Cambridge in the last round of the FA Cup as he scored from three shots in total - two of which managed to find the target. He played up front in that clash, but has played just behind a central striker at times this season.
However, this slightly deeper role doesn’t appear to affect Ducksch’s shot numbers too much with his most recent cameo a good example of the threat he can still pose as a second striker. Ducksch had three shots against West Brom last time out from a deeper role, and has had 2+ shots in four of his last five Championship appearances - netting two goals in that period.
I’m not too sure how seriously Daniel Farke will take the FA Cup, his main objective this season is to keep Leeds in the Premier League, so I can see Farke rotating his side here to keep his key players fresh ahead of what looks like a difficult run of fixtures, with Leeds playing Aston Villa and Manchester City next in the Premier League.
