Chelsea have been one of the most active sides in the transfer window in the last few years which makes the Chelsea transfer odds an exciting market for off-season betting. This summer they have been making headlines for their outgoings rather than signings. They have waved farewell to a number of players, here is a breakdown of who’s left the Bridge so far.
Chelsea outgoings (Summer 2023)
Player | Club | Reported Fee |
---|---|---|
Kai Havertz | Arsenal | €70m |
Mason Mount | Man United | €60m |
Mateo Kovacic | Man City | €29m |
Kalidou Koulibaly | Al-Hilal | €23m |
Edouard Mendy | Al-Ahli | €18m |
Ruben Loftus-Cheek | AC Milan | €16m |
Cesar Azpilicueta | Atletico Madrid | Free transfer |
N’Golo Kante | Al-Ittihad | Free transfer |
Tiemoue Bakayoko | N/A | Released |
Joao Felix | Alteico Madrid | End of loan |
Denis Zakaria | Juventus | End of loan |
Total | €221m |
As you can see, Chelsea have shown many top players the exit door, and these aren’t your typical ‘deadwood’ players that top clubs will let go of, a lot of these have been starters for Chelsea. Havertz, Mount, and Kovacic, in particular, were important players last season and N’Golo Kante has been vital in all of Chelsea’s recent triumphs.
They were always going to have to sell due to FFP (Financial Fair Play). They have spent a lot and therefore must sell. Their selling may not be over just yet too, Romelu Lukaku could possibly leave the club permanently as could prospect Levi Colwill. Chelsea have already spent €97m this summer with Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson signing for the club. But thanks to the departures they are still able to dip into the transfer market. Pochettino’s side are linked with plenty of top talent.
In this piece, we will be running through some of the Chelsea transfer odds and seeing if there’s any betting value.

Caicedo to finally sign for the Blues?
Ever since Moises Caicedo began to pick up form for Brighton, he has been high up on the Chelsea transfer odds. Chelsea have been heavily linked with him during two transfer windows, last January and last summer. They faced competition from Arsenal and Man United but it seems that the clubs have dropped their interest in the Ecuadorian, leaving the Blues in a pole position to secure his services.
This is a fantastic position to be in for Chelsea as they are desperate for a midfielder and one of this profile. After losing the likes of Kante, Kovacic, and Mount they are a lot thinner in the midfield area. They must reinforce this position before the end of this transfer period. Caicedo is a player who can cover multiple midfield roles. He can play as an advanced 8 with a forward focus and he can play as a more holding midfielder, winning the ball back and playing it forward.
This signing is a no-brainer for Chelsea and they will be working tirelessly to get it done. They have a good relationship with Brighton and have been involved in many transfer dealings with the seaside club. There seems to be a gap in the valuation at the moment but Chelsea will return with an improved bid in order to secure the Ecuadorian’s services.
Either way, it looks incredibly likely that we see Caicedo in blue next season. The odds are 1.11 via Paddy Power.
Illan Meslier to switch Leeds for London?
Illan Meslier has publicly expressed his willingness to leave Leeds United following their relegation from the Premier League in May. But he made it very clear that he will not leave Elland Road to sit on the bench elsewhere. Chelsea and Man United have been keeping tabs on the keeper for some time now, but with United focusing on Andre Onana, it looks like Chelsea have a free run at the French shot-stopper.
Chelsea are in the market for a goalkeeper after bidding farewell to Edouard Mendy who left for Saudi Arabia. Kepa Arizzabalaga isn’t a long-term solution for the blues either. He signed for £71m back in 2018 and has divided opinion since. From his refusal to be substituted in the League Cup final to a cluster of poor performances, he has never lived up to the fee of his predecessors.
New boss Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear to Todd Boehly and the Chelsea board that he would like a new goalkeeper before the beginning of the season. Meslier has shown great signs of potential, particularly at the beginning of the season. At just 23 years old he’s a player that could serve Chelsea for the next 10 years.
Either way, it looks like Meslier is on his way out of Leeds and he leads the Chelsea transfer odds in the goalkeeping department. He is readily available to leave Championship Leeds and would likely be available at a much cheaper rate than some of his goalkeeping colleagues.
Emi Martinez to join Poch at Chelsea?
Meslier isn’t the only keeper on Chelsea’s mind. Emi Martinez has been on the radar of many big clubs since his fabulous displays at the 2022 World Cup. He was the best goalkeeper at the tournament and has the Golden Glove to prove it. He was able to carry this form on at club level too and was key in helping Aston Villa qualify for the Europa Conference League.
His ferocious personality and crazy antics have certainly split opinions in the footballing world. Many thought his actions in the final showed ‘a lack of sportsmanship.’ He wasn’t worried about this though, he was rightfully buzzing with his contribution.
This type of character is definitely lacking at Chelsea currently, they’ve always had some big personalities in their winning sides. John Terry, Didier Drogba, and Antonio Rudiger spring to mind. In the current squad, they have nothing of the sort. Emi Martinez would help bring the fire back to the Bridge. He is currently 4.0 to join Chelsea, will he ditch an Aston Villa European tour for his fellow countrymen Poch and Enzo Fernandez?
Could Harry Maguire solve Chelsea centre-back woes?
Harry Maguire is certainly a player who consistently makes the headlines. Whether it’s for heroics for England, getting arrested by Greek police or being booed by Man United fans, the lad from Sheffield certainly knows how to bring attention to himself.
Maguire’s place in the United team may be under extreme scrutiny but this doesn’t necessarily come down to the quality of the player, it’s more of a tactical switch. Maguire is not well suited to high-line defending, which is the system adopted by Erik ten Hag. Chelsea are in the market for a centre-back after losing Wesley Fofana to an ACL injury.
Maguire’s United future has been thrown into question after he was stripped of the captaincy by Erik ten Hag. This has seen his potential Chelsea transfer odds shorten.
Maguire is a decent ball player and carrier which is key for a Pochettino team. The Argentine manager has been an admirer of United’s record defensive signing for a long time.
“Pochettino was all over Maguire”

The England international is linked with moves to West Ham and Spurs too. It is likely we see the former United skipper playing his football in London next season.
