Nicolas Jackson to have 1+ Shots on Target

Chelsea have really missed Jackson up front, the Blues have looked quite blunt in the absence of the striker, with Christopher Nkunku not offering a suitable alternative. Jackson is invaluable to this Chelsea side, not just for his output in front of goal but his work off the ball, which gives other players in the frontline space to create chances. Cole Palmer is a player that has particularly missed the movement of Jackson.

He’s had 32 shots on target across his 27 Premier League appearances this season (1.41 per 90). This record has returned nine goals for Jackson, which is a record he’ll need to improve on if he wants to continue to lead the line for Chelsea next season. His shot on target record shows that Jackson is getting in all the right positions to score.

Jackson had two shots on target in the initial meeting between these sides at Goodifson Park and also found the back of the net in this fixture last season. Chelsea had five shots on target in the 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, roughly in line with their average of 5.9 shots on target per game in the Premier League this season, a total only bettered by Liverpool and Man City.

Nicolas Jackson to Commit 1+ Fouls

Jackson can look a frustrated figure at times, which directly influences his foul record. He can get inside his own head after missing chances which leads to a frustration that he often takes out on the opposition centre backs. Jackson committed two fouls in the initial meeting between these sides at Goodison Park.

He has committed a foul in 11 of his 13 games at Stamford Bridge in which he has played more than 60 minutes, an excellent record which also highlights another aspect of his instruction as the forward leading the Chelsea line. Jackson presses very aggressively and does a lot of running off the ball, this naturally sees Jackson commit fouls.

Jackson has committed 29 fouls across his 27 Premier League appearances this season (1.28 per 90) which is a season record that supports his record since returning from injury - he’s committed a foul in each of his starts in the Premier League since coming back into the side.

Over 1.5 Everton Cards

Everton have received 2+ cards in four of their last five Premier League games, receiving 3+ cards in each of their last three games in the top flight. Everton have generally seen an increase in fouls and cards under David Moyes who has given these Everton players a real lift since he took over from Sean Dyche, as illustrated by their current distance from the drop zone.

Everton committed 20 fouls and picked up four cards in the initial meeting between these sides at Goodison Park. Everton are likely to be without the ball for the majority of this encounter which should see the Toffees engage in the majority of the defensive work here. They have received 71 cautions across the season as a whole (2.15 per game) - only six sides in the Premier League have picked up more yellow cards.

Chelsea to Win

This is simply a must win game for Chelsea if they want to keep their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League alive. Enzo Maresca’s side managed to comeback from 1-0 down to come away 2-1 winners at Craven Cottage last time out and have the opportunity to put some breathing space between themselves and Aston Villa here, who have their FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Chelsea have won nine of their 16 games at Stamford Bridge this season which isn’t exactly enough to call Stamford Bridge a fortress, but enough to suggest that they can carve out chances against an Everton side that don’t really have much to play for. Chelsea have been pretty solid against sides in the bottom half of the table this season, their issues have mainly come against sides in the top half.

Enzo Fernandez to Score or Assist

Enzo Fenandez has been one of the success stories to come out of Chelsea this season in what has been an up and down campaign. He’s registered 11 goal contributions in the Premier League this season (five goals, six assists) which is already double the output he managed last term (three goals, two assists) suggesting that he’s being deployed further up the pitch.

Fernandez picked up an assist in Chelsea’s win over Fulham, sliding the ball through to Pedro Neto to score a last minute winner. Enzo Fernandez has been at the core of many of these important moments for Chelsea this season, especially with Cole Palmer’s drop off in form this calendar year.

He created two chances and had a shot on target in the 0-0 draw between these sides at Goodison Park. There should be more urgency in Chelsea’s performance here seeing as they need the points to ensure that they don’t fall behind in the race for the Champions League spots.

Idrissa Gueye to be Shown a Card

Idrissa Gueye committed two fouls and was very fortunate to avoid a booking in the meeting between these sides at Goodison Park earlier in the season. He’s averaging 1.65 fouls committed per 90 in the Premier League this season, a record that has produced eight yellow cards for the 35 year old - including a caution in each of his last two Premier League appearances.

No Everton player has picked up more cautions than Idrissa Gueye this season. He’ll have a real battle on his hands here against Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer - both players that are pushed on into advanced central areas when one of Chelsea’s fullbacks looks to invert.

Fernandez is averaging 1.59 fouls won per 90 in the Premier League and was hauled down twice in the initial meeting between the sides. Palmer is averaging 1.80 fouls won per 90 in the Premier League this season and was also brought down twice in the clash at Goodison Park. Everton committed 20 fouls and were shown four yellow cards in the initial encounter between these sides.

Under 3.5 Goals

Everton’s games tend to be quite low scoring due to their pragmatic and organised approach, which has only improved under the tutelage of David Moyes. The Toffees have seen under 3.5 goals in each of their last five Premier League games which has included clashes against Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea have seen under 3.5 goals in four of their last five games across all competitions with the exception coming in a 2-2 draw against Ipswich. Everton are likely to be more solid at the back than Kieran McKenna’s side, which should see a modest goal count in this early kick-off. Chelsea’s defensive numbers of late have actually been quite promising despite the constant chaos that seems to surround the Blues.

The initial meeting between these sides ended in a 0-0 draw and we can expect this game to follow a similar pattern, with Chelsea doing most of the probing and prompting whilst Everton soak up pressure.

Over 2.5 Everton Corners

There is no doubt that Everton’s biggest threat in the final third comes from set piece situations, particularly corners, which is something that Chelsea could struggle with given the lack of physicality in the backline for Enzo Maresca’s side.

Everton have won 3+ corners in four of their last five Premier League matches with the exception coming against Man City last time out, in which they fell just under this line with two corners. Everton are likely to target this weakness in the Chelsea squad at every given opportunity which should see them rack up the corner count in line with their average of 4.00 corners per game across their 16 trips away from Goodison Park this season.
