🗒️ Cheltenham Day 2 E/W Lucky 15

Fixtures for:Wednesday 11th March

Cheltenham

14:00

Wendigo E/W @ 7.00

I’m excited to see what WENDIGO can do, now upped to an extended three-mile trip over fences. The Grade Two chase winner finished his race off strongly, when 3rd in the G1 Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton over Christmas. He was subsequently given an easy race at Ayr, to set himself up nicely for this assignment, and has Cheltenham Festival form to offer. His 5th in last season’s G1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle was a good performance, keeping on well after nearly being brought down two from home. I can envisage him staying on strongly to reach the placings.

Storm Heart E/W @ 6.50

STORM HEART is a confident selection for the powerful Willie Mullins stable. The son of Storm The Stars kept top company as a novice hurdler, finishing placed in a Grade One. He has continued his progression this term, with back-to-back hurdle successes, including an easy handicap debut victory last time. He smacks me as a definite Graded horse in a handicap here, and if he is to make into that kind of performer, then he should be able to land this valuable prize, for a team who won this last year.

Final Orders E/W @ 6.50

This isn’t going to be one of the strongest betting races of the week, that is for sure! I admit, it is a good spectacle, though, as the chases embark on three tight circuits of the unique course. FINAL ORDERS is a solid staying chaser, who has speed to be positioned handily throughout. He also brings track form to the race, having won over course-and-distance, earlier in the season. His latest 5th was a fine effort back here, considering the ground was against him. A return to a quicker surface ought to see him involved at the business end of the contest.

Il Etait Temps E/W @ 5.0

Majborough is the obvious horse in this year’s edition of the G1 Champion Chase. Whilst there are those who like to pile into a short-priced favourite – I cannot justify backing him at odds-on.

For all of his star quality, which was clearly evident in a romp in Grade One company last time, he has the capability of getting in far too close to a fence. That was apparent in last year’s G1 Arkle Chase, where he made a bad mistake two from home. I’m happy to take him on at the prices with IL ETAIT TEMPS, who on official ratings, is the most likely danger to the favourite. The five-time Grade One-winning chaser has to shackle a 0-3 record at the Cheltenham festival, but I’m giving him another chance to run a big race.

A £3 E/W bet on this returns £278.41.

Scotland v Brazil Treble (Using 100% Booster) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇧🇷⚡ @ 9.61

Cunha scored twice against Haiti last time out and looks like the perfect striker to pull together this talented Brazil forward line with Ancelotti previously experimenting with Igor Thiago and Endrick.

Cunha is very much a confidence player and will be very eager to carry his form from the last game into this encounter. He’s capable of producing something special too, which may be needed against a Scotland side who have already shown they can be quite stubborn.

Cunha registered 12 goal contributions across 29 starts for Manchester United during the 25/26 campaign with some very convincing underlying numbers - averaging 3.24 shots per 90 and 1.22 chances created per 90.

Most of those appearances for Cunha came as a left-sided attacker, or playing just behind a central striker - he’s Brazil’s number nine in this tournament, which should give him more chances in front of goal than he gets at club level. I back him to continue to be an important player for Brazil following his brace against Haiti.

Casemiro started the tournament in proper Casemiro fashion, picking up a yellow card in the first half against Morocco from one foul.

He was taken off at half-time to ensure Brazil kept all 11 players on the pitch, but his replacement, Fabinho, committed three fouls, meaning this leg would have landed via Super Sub on that occasion.

Casemiro also committed two fouls in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Haiti last time out, and the midfield looks like a real battleground for fouls in this matchup.

Brazil don’t have a lot of dynamism in these areas; both Casemiro and Guimaraes are very good players, but they do sometimes lack the energy and athleticism to deal with quick transitions, which is something I think Scotland will target.

One of Casemiro’s main opponents here will be Lewis Ferguson, who has been very effective when it comes to winning fouls at the tournament so far - winning nine fouls across his two games, with at least 3+ fouls won in each match.

Ferguson has been outstanding for Scotland in the heart of the midfield, providing an excellent defensive base for his side.

One of the most notable aspects of his play has been his ability to win free kicks. He has picked up nine in total, which at the time of writing was the 3rd highest figure in the whole competition. The Bologna midfielder is intelligent with his body placement to win fouls, and this will be a target of his against Brazil in order to relieve pressure from the defence.

Likely head-to-head opponents include Lucas Paqueta (2.14 fouls per 90) and Bruno Guimaraes (1.11 fouls per 90).
