Andy’s Bet Club is at it again, we’ve got a great horse racing betting tool in store for the Cheltenham Festival.
Hit Rates: Shows what percentage of times a horse has won or placed in the top 3, 4, 5, etc.
This can also be filtered by distance and ground conditions for any race in the UK, every day, including for the Cheltenham Festival.
During the Festival our experts will use the tool to create daily Cheltenham Festival Longshots, as well as predictions for all four days of the meeting. Check out all of our Cheltenham Festival 2025 Tips here.
We aim to help ABC users unlock their betting potential through data-driven insights and smart data, you can also check out our Racing Ratings tool for the Festival, our unique algorithm which assigns a score to every UK runner by taking into account a range of variables.
What Is Hit Rates?
Hit Rates is a feature that allows users to see the percentage of times a horse has won or placed in the top 3, 4, 5, and so on.
This data is available for every UK race, every single day, including every race of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.
You can toggle the data to see Hit Rates by ground condition or distance. For example, the dashboard will show the percentage of times a horse has won or placed in the top 3, 4, or 5 for a specific distance or ground condition.
Our Hit Rates tool is the perfect resource for each-way or place betting.
Make Smarter Cheltenham Festival Bets Using Hit Rates
The Hit Rates tool easily surfaces Hit Rates percentages for anyone looking to back a horse to place or even win, but wants to see how many times the horse has done so historically.
For example, if you’re looking to back a Cheltenham Festival bet for a horse to place in the top 4 and take advantage of bookmaker offers such as ‘extra places’, then Hit Rates is the tool for you.
Easily filter on distance or ground conditions and pick out a horse most likely to finish in the top 4 based on their Hit Rate.
Users wanting to retrieve this information would have to study racecards and trawl through lots of information, whereas Hit Rates provides it instantly and in a simple format.
Hit Rates is also linked to the ABC betslip and users can add selections to place into their betslip and place bets with Paddy Power or Betfair without even leaving Andy’s Bet Club.

How Does Hit Rates Work?
We’ve built a database of UK and Irish racing going back many years so we can run calculations on how they’ve performed over time.
For all the races we have data for, we can calculate the percentage of times a horse has won, or finished in the top 2, 3, 4 and so on.
These calculations can be done across all of their races but can also be set for the distance of the race they’ll be running (the same distance is set as within 1 furlong or 220 yards which is just over 201m).
We can also run the calculations specifically for how that horse has performed on the ground conditions they are running on that day. If the ground conditions change based upon a lot of rain, our Hit Rates will also update accordingly for the horse’s performance on those ground conditions.
By default, we sort by highest to lowest hit rate (and then odds from lowest to highest). But Hit Rates and odds can be toggled to make it a bit easier for users to find bets that take their fancy via a sorting feature.
Odds are presented in decimal format but it can be switched for those who prefer fractional.
