Dave Chisnall v Ross Smith Best Bet
🎯 Ross Smith Over 2.5 180s
📈 Odds: 1.91
Having both crashed to defeat on day one at the Grand Slam of Darts, Dave Chisnall and Ross Smith square off in a huge game at the foot of Group D on Sunday afternoon. ‘Chizzy’ suffered a whitewash 5-0 defeat to Connor Scutt, while ‘Smudger’ was heavily beaten 5-1 by a rampant Ritchie Edhouse. As such, neither player can afford a defeat here, or they’ll be staring down the barrel of an early exit.
All the indications are that it will be a tight and nervy game that could go the distance. With that in mind, Smith looks well worth backing to hit three or more 180s at 1.91.
While ‘Smudger’ suffered a rare blank on the maximums front on day one, he is more than capable of rediscovering his rhythm and habit for hitting 180s on day two. The 35-year-old has long been one of the most frequent 180 hitters on the PDC circuit. His return of 475 maximums has him housed inside the top-seven for 180s scored this calendar year.
During the group stage of the Grand Slam of Darts two years ago, Smith slammed in a record-breaking nine maximums in a 5-4 win over Michael van Gerwen. He also covered the proposed over 2.5 180 line in a 5-4 loss to Luke Woodhouse at this stage of the tournament in 2022. It’s also worth noting that Smith racked up 10 maximums in his round of 16 encounter with Luke Humphries a couple of years back. Thus, there is plenty of scope for Smith to deliver at least three 180s during this crunch clash in Group D.
