Saturday’s EFL Anytime Goalscorer Tips
Swansea head into the weekend’s fixture with Blackburn under the guidance of Alan Sheehan, who has taken on temporary managerial duties following the departure of Luke Williams. Sheehan has his work cut out if he’s to make an immediate impact with the Swans having won once, drawn once and lost 8 times in matches played across all competitions since the turn of the year.
Swansea’s defensive numbers have been poor. In the 10 matches played since we entered 2025 their goals conceded numbers read 4-1-3-3-2-5-2-0-1-3. The xGA in those matches read 1.70-1.01-2.48-0.85-1.84-3.02-2.38-1.75-0.82-0.90.
Only Hull have picked up fewer home points than Swansea this season and the South Wales club should be fearful of more pain when Blackburn visit because Rovers have 1 of the most improved forwards in the league in their ranks.
Makhtar Gueye started the season slowly but with adapting time he now looks like a potent EFL Championship striker. Up until the New Year, Gueye had only taken 18 shots in the Championship with a 28% on target ratio and had scored once. Since the start of January Gueye’s shot numbers in Championship matches read 0-1-2-1-7-2-3-2-3-3. His shot on target ratio is now at 43% and he has scored 4 more goals – 3 in his last 4 matches. 3.66 xG of his season total of 5.8 xG has come in the his last 10 matches.
Gueye’s threat comes in both open play and from set pieces.
Peterborough have the worst defensive numbers in League One. Darren Ferguson’s men have conceded 58 goals at an average of 1.87 goals per game. In their last 5 league matches Posh have conceded 11 goals. They’ve managed just 2 clean sheets in 31 league matches this season.
This all makes for good reading for Huddersfield’s shot-happy forward Josh Koroma.
Koroma started the season in fine form, scoring 3 goals in his first 6 matches. He’s a versatile player who can operate from wide left or centrally. But Koroma’s versatility has affected his goal contributions as the season has progressed with him being shoe-horned in at left wing back as Michael Duff tried to make use of his plethora of forward options.
Duff bought in Joe Taylor from Luton and Dion Charles from Bolton during the January transfer window with the hope that the pair would shoot the Terriers to League One promotion. However, due to form and injury the duo have failed to fire and in the last 2 matches Koroma has reverted back to an attacking role. The result – a goal in each game.
Despite being utilised across multiple positions, Koroma has kept up a 2.62 shots per game average in League One this season with a 33% on target ratio. There has only been 6 matches where Koroma hasn’t had a shot at goal and he’s had multiple shot matches on 16 occasions.
Koroma sometimes gets criticised for his selfish nature but that doesn’t matter to us goalscoring punters. His price hasn’t been appealing for a while due to him playing such a withdrawn role but Saturday’s fixture looks like a great spot for Koroma to make it 3 in 3.
