Anthony Taylor will be making his second appearance at the Euros this summer. Taylor has been in charge of many huge clashes this season, including a Champions League quarterfinal between PSG and Barcelona, in which the Englishman brandished six yellow cards.

Artur Soares Dias, who refereed at Euro 2020, is no stranger to the big stage. Soares Dias has officiated plenty of top-level games this season, including a derby between Sporting and Benfica, issuing twelve cards in this fixture. 

🇫🇷 Clément Turpin

Clement Turpin will be one of the most experienced referees at this year’s tournament, with the French referee making his third appearance at the Euros. Turpin has refereed a number of blockbuster clashes this season, notably officiating the Champions League semifinal between Bayern and Real Madrid. 

🇮🇹 Daniele Orsato

Daniele Orsato will be returning to the Euros this summer. The Italian referee has had a busy 2023/24 campaign, refereeing many noteworthy fixtures including Wales’ loss against Poland in the Euro 2024 qualification playoffs. Orsato issued five yellow cards and one red in this match. 

🇩🇪 Daniel Siebert

Daniel Siebert will be appearing at the Euros for the second time in June. Siebert has refereed multiple Champions League matches this season, including PSV’s home meeting with Lens, producing eleven cards in this game. 

🇳🇱 Danny Makkelie

Danny Makkelie will be making his second appearance at the Euros this summer. The Dutch referee, who officiated the semifinal between England and Denmark at Euro 2020, has officiated some huge fixtures this season, including the Champions League quarterfinal between Bayern and Arsenal. 

🇦🇷 Facundo Tello

Facundo Tello is the only non-European official who has been selected to referee at Euro 2024. Tello was in charge of some key clashes at the 2022 World Cup, including the quarterfinal between Morocco and Portugal.

Felix Zwayer is set to make his Euros debut this summer. Nonetheless, Zwayer has plenty of experience refereeing at the highest level, officiating plenty of Champions League matches, including Celtic and Atletico’s clash in this season’s group stages, in which he dished out nine bookings.

🇫🇷 Francois Letexier

François Letexier will be appearing at the Euros for the first time in his career in June. Letexier has officiated some huge clashes across the season, including the UEFA Super Cup, as well as Real Madrid and Man City’s Champions League quarterfinal. 

🇸🇪 Glenn Nyberg

Another debutant referee who will be officiating in this summer’s competition is Glenn Nyberg. The Swedish referee has been in charge of many important matches this season, including Arsenal’s Champions League quarterfinal against Bayern. 

🇹🇷 Halil Umut Meler

Halil Umut Meler will also be making his first-ever appearance at the Euros in June. Meler has refereed some respectable fixtures this season, including a Turkish Super Lig clash between Galatasaray and Besiktas, in which the Turkish referee showed nine yellow cards and one red. 

🇷🇴 Istvan Kovacs

Istan Kovacs will be making his second appearance in this competition this summer. Kovacs has been in charge of multiple significant contests this season, including Barcelona and PSG’s Champions League quarterfinal, in which the Romanian official produced nine yellow cards and one red. 

🇸🇰 Ivan Kruzliak

Ivan Kruzliak will be officiating at the Euros for the first time this summer. Kruzliak has been in charge of many important clashes this season, including Lille and Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League semifinal – a fixture in which the Slovakian referee distributed an astonishing eleven yellow cards.

🇪🇸 Jesús Gil Manzano

Another debutant referee at this summer’s tournament will be Jesus Gil Manzano. The Spanish referee has been appointed to referee many prestigious ties this season, notably officiating a La Liga clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid. 

🇮🇹 Marco Guida

Marco Guida will also be refereeing at the Euros for the first time in June. Guida has been in charge of some tasty fixtures this season, including a derby between Roma and Lazio, showing eight cards in this meeting.

Michael Oliver will return to officiating at the Euros this summer. Oliver has plenty of experience on the international stage, officiating many top-level clashes including a World Cup quarterfinal between Croatia and Brazil in 2022.

🇨🇭Sandro Schärer

Sandro Schärer will be another debutant referee at Euro 2024. Schärer has been in charge of some important matches this season, including Atalanta’s clash with Sporting in the Europa League knockout stages. 

🇸🇮 Slavko Vinnčić

Slavko Vinčić will be officiating at the Euros for the second time in June. The Slovenian official has plenty of international experience, refereeing at both Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.  

🇵🇱 Szymon Marciniak

Szymon Marciniak, who refereed at Euro 2016, did not officiate at Euro 2020; however, the Polish referee is set to return to the competition this summer. Marciniak has been in charge of plenty of significant fixtures this season, including the Club World Cup final between Man City and Fluminense.

📹 VAR

VAR was first used at the Euros in 2016, and UEFA have selected a team of 24 video match officials for Euro 2024. This team includes referees from Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and North America. Two video match officials that you may be familiar with are Premier League officials Stuart Atwell and David Coote. 

Referee Fees

The fees provided by UEFA to the officials vary based on the stage of the competition and the role of the individual. UEFA’s total expenditure on officials for this tournament will amount to €775,000. The below table provides a breakdown of the fees that will be issued to the referees.
