Grant is a Glasgow-based sports betting analyst and keeps a close eye on all the goings-on in the fascinating world of Scottish football. While he has a strong passion for the SPFL, Grant is equally adept at crafting content on all of Europe’s major leagues, whether it be the Premier League or further afield. When not crunching the numbers and analysing the stats, Grant can often be found following his beloved Falkirk up and down the country.

Russell Martin finally eked out his first league win as Rangers boss with a  2-1 success away at Livingston last weekend. However, the Light Blues were brought back down to earth when losing 2-1 away at Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday night.

As for Falkirk, they have dropped down to 11th place in the Scottish Premiership table following last week’s 3-0 loss away at league leaders Hearts.

These Falkirk v Rangers Betting Stats dig further into the data ahead of kick-off.

Both Teams to Score @ 1.61

Given that both Falkirk and Rangers have looked shaky at the back this season, I think there is plenty of scope for both teams to get on the scoresheet on Sunday.

Newly-promoted Falkirk have blanked in just one of their opening six league games of the season, striking once or more in each of their three outings at home. Moreover, both teams have hit the back of the net in four of the Bairns’ six Scottish Premiership matches this season, including each of their three fixtures at the Falkirk Stadium. It’s also worth noting that Falkirk contributed to the scoring when losing to Celtic at Parkhead in a Scottish League Cup tie earlier this season.

As for Rangers, they have delivered a winning BTTS selection in each of their three Scottish Premiership away games this season, with Motherwell, St Mirren and Livingston all breaching the Light Blues’ leaky backline. What's more, as alluded to above, there were goals at both ends during Rangers’ defeat in Austria on Thursday night.

Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.59

On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I’m also prepared to side with over 2.5 goals at the Falkirk Stadium on Sunday. The Bairns have been serving up plenty of entertainment upon their return to the top-flight, with all bar one of their six matches featuring three or more strikes. In fact, three of those six contests involving John McGlynn’s men broke the over 3.5 goal barrier, including two of their three home games.

While Rangers’ 2-1 win over Livingston last weekend was the first time that one of their league games have produced over 2.5 goals this term, I think a repeat this weekend is entirely plausible given the attacking nature of Falkirk.

The Bairns’ front-foot approach should open up numerous opportunities and spaces for Rangers to exploit, so I’m expecting to see the action flow from end-to-end at the Falkirk Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Over 9.5 Corners @ 1.50

Russell Martin’s side have won more corners than any other team in this season’s Scottish Premiership, racking up a combined total of 50 across their opening six league games of the campaign (8.3 per game). The Glasgow giants also earned seven flag kicks against Sturm Graz’ on Thursday night - there is scope for them to clear this line on their own.

Falkirk had to defend no fewer than nine corners during last week’s 3-0 loss to Hearts, they also conceded a whopping 16 corners when they faced Celtic in a Scottish League Cup tie earlier this season.

Despite conceding plenty of corners, Falkirk can contribute to the corner count too. They've notched 20 corners over their last four matches (five per game), with consistent counts of 5, 5, 4, 6, over this period.

📈 Falkirk v Rangers Form & Tactics

Falkirk suffered their third league defeat of the season when losing 3-0 away at Hearts last Saturday. The Bairns were totally outclassed from start to finish at Tynecastle, posting an xG of 0.67 to Hearts’ 1.94.

However, John McGlynn’s newly-promoted side have competed well in each of their other five top-flight games this season, most notably holding both Dundee United and Hibernian to 2-2 draws at the Falkirk Stadium.

Goals have been a regular feature of Falkirk’s matches this season, with five of their opening six Scottish Premiership games of the campaign featuring over 2.5 strikes.

While Falkirk have scored in all bar one of their league games this season, they have only managed to keep one clean sheet to date, conceding multiple goals in each of their three home games.

As mentioned, Rangers have won just one of their opening six Scottish Premiership matches of the season, securing their maiden victory with a narrow 2-1 win away at Livingston last weekend. However, Russell Martin’s side were unable to build on that success when going down 2-0 at Sturm Graz on Thursday night. Despite a poor first-half showing in Austria, Rangers were much-improved after the break, ending the game with 10 of their 16 shots hitting the target.

After giving up two goals in Austria, Rangers have now conceded at least once in each of their last 22 matches across all competitions, equalling a record that stretches all the way back to the Victorian era.

No team has hit more corners than Rangers (50) in this season’s Scottish Premiership, with a narrow majority (26) of those flag kicks coming away from Ibrox.

📔 Falkirk v Rangers Formation & Team News

John McGlynn’s preferred formation is a 4-2-3-1. Falkirk are a possession-based side who aim to control matches with their passing and quick movement. The Bairns have stuck to the attacking principles that saw them rise from Scotland's third tier via back-to-back promotions.

Aidan Nesbitt, Coll Donaldson, Ethan Ross, Jamie Sneddon and Sam Hart are all ruled out for the hosts, however Lewis Neilson should come back into the heart of the defence after being ineligible to face his parent club last weekend.

Rangers are expected to set up with a 4-2-3-1 formation on Sunday. However, Russell Martin has been known to switch to a back-three during matches this season, particularly if his team find themselves chasing the game. While Martin has now overseen 16 matches at Rangers, his players continue to look uncomfortable when trying to build out from the back.

Mohamed Diomande could come back into the Rangers starting XI after serving a suspension on Thursday night. Injured duo Dujon Sterling and Rabbi Matondo are not expected to feature at the Falkirk Stadium.
