Get Better at Fantasy Premier League With ABC Weekly Gameweek Tips

To get better at FPL it’s important to be aware of everything from team news like injuries to tactical changes, as well as understanding basics like the FPL scoring system.

Fantasy football is essentially multiple pillars – football knowledge, underlying data and being on the pulse with chip strategy. For example, playing your triple captain at the right time can be the difference between winning and losing the league.

We have a pool of content on what the new fantasy football rules are, what the scoring system looks like and the best chip strategy.

What is The Wildcard in Fantasy Premier League?

Each Fantasy Football manager is given two Wildcards throughout the season – with each chip to be used before and after the Gameweek 20 deadline.

You can make unlimited transfers before the upcoming deadline without getting a points penalty. Once you confirm your Wildcard you cannot revert your team back.

What is The Free Hit in Fantasy Premier League?

The Free Hit chip allows you to make unlimited transfers to your team without a points deduction for one gameweek only. After the gameweek your team will revert back.

This means FPL managers can draw a spotlight on a specific group of fixtures – whether that’s a blank or double gameweek or even a gameweek where your strongest players play the weakest sides.

What is The Bench Boost in Fantasy Premier League?

The Bench Boost chip means FPL managers get the points scored by their bench added to the final gameweek point tally.

It means you can maximise your points if all of your players have good fixtures – you can play the Bench Boost chip only once and for one gameweek.

What is The Triple Captain in Fantasy Premier League?

The Triple Captain chip means your chosen captain’s points are tripled for the active gameweek.

If you choose to use your triple captain on a double gameweek that means it will be in-play for 2 games and the points will still be tripled.

FPL FAQs

What is a blank gameweek?

A blank gameweek in FPL is when several teams do not play within a gameweek due to fixture rearrangements for cup competitions. This means any players who have a blank gameweek will get 0 points.

A double gameweek in FPL is when a team has two matches in a given gameweek. This is caused by the Premier League rearranging fixtures due to cup competitions.

How does captaincy work?

Choosing the right captain is one of the most important decisions each gameweek. Your captain gets double points so you should always pick the player you think will earn the most points.

What are bonus points?

Bonus points are points awarded to players who meet the threshold of top performers using the OPTA statistics.

Three bonus points to the highest scoring player, two bonus points to the second-highest scoring player and one bonus point to the third highest.
