🔴 Arsenal in the Market for a Goalscorer
Arsenal need a prolific attacker if they're to improve on their 2nd place finished from the last three seasons.
Mikel Arteta has been missing the final piece up top for too long and will be hoping that this summer is finally the window where Arsenal bolster their attacking options, to compliment Bukayo Saka on the right flank.
Here are three attacking options we think they should turn to and why:
Viktor Gyokeres (Best Bet)
Alternative Transfer Targets
Ollie Watkins
Arsenal reportedly made a bid for Ollie Watkins in January and may revisit their interest in the Villa man should other pursuits fail. Ollie Watkins is the only striker that has been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks that has Premier League experience.
Watkins scored 16 goals in the Premier League last season, building on the 19 he scored in the 23/24 campaign. These numbers show that Watkins can consistently deliver at this level and given the rumours which surfaced in January and Aston Villa struggling to meet PSR regulations after failing to qualify for the Champions League, he could find himself on the move this summer.
Watkins is certainly a more natural and reliable fit for Arsenal than Sesko or Gyokeres, who are the other names that have been floating around the Arsenal striker position. Sesko may be a more attractive option for Arsenal given his age, Watkins will be 30 at the end of the year so there isn't much scope for Arsenal to claim any resale value if his move doesn't workout.
Nico Williams/Rodrygo
A lot of the noise around Arsenal is demanding a striker, but it may actually be the left wing which is the most important position for Arsenal to improve on this summer. Arteta has been resisting the urge to go and buy a player like Erling Haaland for a few seasons, mainly because it would disrupt his preferred way of playing. Two goalscoring wingers could be the answer to this and with Saka already covering one of these positions, Nico Williams or Rodrygo could be the answer to Arsenal's finishing problem.
Both names have been mentioned in recent weeks but Rodrygo is one to keep a closer eye on, many sides have been put off by the wage demands of Nico Williams and while Rodrygo won't be cheap, Arsenal are aided by the fact that there may not be a place for Rodrygo in Real Madrid's new look side under Xabi Alonso.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are currently Arsenal's options on the left wing and while both of these players would make good squad players, they aren't quite at the level which would help Arsenal reach their goal of lifting the Premier League title, as the last few seasons have shown.
🔵 Chelsea Seek a Joao Felix Replacement
Chelsea are always in the headlines during the transfer window and while their signing of Liam Delap may have finally addressed their striker issue, there is a gap in the squad due to the expected departures of Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix, for a second or shadow striker.
Chelsea have already highlighted a few players for this role with Hugo Ekitike being the name which has been most heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
There are a few other interesting choices for Chelsea which may be worth looking at:
Hugo Ekitike (Best Bet)
Alternative Transfer Targets
Morgan Rogers
Chelsea are no strangers to snapping up an ex-Man City academy product, with Liam Delap, Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia and even Enzo Maresca all having connections to the Cityzens. Rogers could be the latest to make the move to Stamford Bridge, even if Aston Villa are reluctant to lose him.
Aston Villa are in a precarious position with PSR after failing to qualify for the Champions League during the 24/25 season. This will affect Aston Villa more than other sides due to their activity in the January transfer window which will fall outside of the PSR rules unless they balance the books this summer, and a high profile departure may be what is required to ensure they do not break the rules and face punishment.
Rogers would be the perfect profile for what Chelsea are looking for, with the added bonus of having Premier League experience, which should mean that Rogers settles in to his surroundings quickly if he is to leave Villa Park this summer. The Joe Shields connection shouldn't be underestimated here, he has been at the heart of the majority of Chelsea's transfers over recent seasons, especially in cases where there is a link to Man City, where he also used to work.
Mohammed Kudus
Chelsea were been linked to Mohammed Kudus before he made the move to West Ham and may be tempted to finally bring him to Stamford Bridge, with the Ghanian seemingly wanting out of the London Stadium seeing as there is no clear position for him under Graham Potter.
Chelsea have already had an offer pushed back for Kudus with Robert Sanchez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall offered to sweeten the deal. West Ham rejected this offer, but have made it clear that they are interested in some of Chelsea's players, namely Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall so this is a deal which could be reignited in the summer.
Kudus didn't enjoy the best season last campaign, but it was a tough season for West Ham overall with the Hammers finishing 14th. Kudus only registered nine goal contributions last term but the numbers Chelsea will be more interested in are the 20 goal contributions that he registered during the 23/24 campaign, across 45 appearances.
⚪ Newcastle Look to Add an Attacking Spark
Newcastle will be hoping to bolster their frontline in the coming weeks and months to add some depth and quality before the 25/26 season.
They'll be competing in the Champions League next season and with ageing players like Callum Wilson (33) and Jacob Murphy (30), it's likely that Eddie Howe will look to target a younger player which he can look to develop alongside the likes of William Osula and Anthony Gordon.
Newcastle continue to be linked with Bryan Mbeumo which would be the perfect signing to compliment the already effective front three of Newcastle. However, the Brentford winger seems to have opted to join Man United, leaving Newcastle with a few other options.
Harvey Elliott (Best Bet)
Alternative Transfer Targets
Joao Pedro
Joao Pedro is set to leave Brighton this summer, with the player seeking to play in the Champions League next season, something that Newcastle can offer. Chelsea and Newcastle have been the clubs most regularly linked with Joao Pedro in recent months.
Joao Pedro has reportedly informed Eddie Howe of his willingness to play across the frontline in a bid to try and force a move through to St James' Park. Brighton do have a reputation of being tough negotiators so this is a saga that could rumble on into the final weeks of the transfer window.
Joao Pedro has been linked to Newcastle before, he almost joined the Magpies back in 2022 and it seems as though Newcastle have kept regular tabs on the Brighton star since then. He registered 17 goal contributions across his 30 appearances for Brighton last season which suggests that he can add quality and depth to the Newcastle attack.
Anthony Elanga
A natural fit for Newcastle to offer some competition to Jacob Murphy on the right wing is Anthony Elanga. The links between Newcastle and Elanga are tentative right now, but speculation has been developing in recent weeks that Newcastle are eyeing up a move for the former Man United winger.
Elanga's speed and directness align perfectly with Eddie Howe's vision and preferred style of play. He would certainly add an explosiveness to Newcastle which they were missing at times last season. It is thought that Nottingham Forest would demand around £50m for Elanga, which is a price tag which may slightly deter Newcastle, but it is probably justified seeing as Elanga registered 18 goal contributions last season, his best tally in the Premier League to date. Elanga also aligns with Newcastle's strategy of signing players in the 21-23 age bracket.
